Personally, I'm not tired of the hype. I think Shea Patterson together with Jim Harbaugh is a match made in heaven. Having Ed Warinner and Jim McElwain now doesn't hurt either. I'm expecting more than 10 wins this year.
P.S., Brandon Wimbush of Notre Dame is at #43. I'm expecting him to have a very difficult time with Michigan's defense.
I would expect by season's end, Haskins goes to the top of this list among B1G QBs, or second at worst.
What I saw in that game last year was that we still have no idea what Haskins is going to be. Yes, he lead his team to a win. Really though, he threw 7 passes. 3 of those accounted for 80 of his 94 passing yards. One was a jump ball that his receiver made a ridiculous play on. The other two were simple dump offs to a receiver on a crossing route, and the WR ran away from the defender for a big gain after the catch. He then had a 22 yard run where literally nobody on our defense was even looking at him until he was 15 yards down field.
Yes, he played well and did what he needed to do. He could be great, not trying to say he won't. But there really isn't much to go on yet.
Cool to see Josh Jackson ranked 19th. He is a Hokie but maize and blue runs in his blood.
Lewerke does not impress me enough to be the 12th best qb in the country Patterson had a passer rating 30 points better than him. Lewerke relies on his legs a bit too much. If Lewerke gets injured michigan state is a 6 win team. Wimbush is not good at all im not worried about him. Cant even complete 50 percent of his throws. stop the run force passing situations and its a 10+ win
MSU has a good track record with developing QBs
You do know Shea runs around too! This archaic thought process that your QB's have to stay in the pocket is laughable. Most of the top teams in the country have mobile QB's and 6 of the last 8 heisman winners have been dual-threat guys.
quite a difference IMO
Which one is it?
Granted, last year's returning established stars should be highly ranked, but nobody can say with certainty how Shea will play and that includes the Michigan coaching staff. Lets just look at a few of the unknowns:
- New team. Chemistry?
- New League.
- New OL and OL coach
- New system and receivers
All of these will need work to overcome. I like Shea's potential (great arm + potential), but until I see him make the right reads and exhibit poise within the system, I've heard this story too many times over the years to get too excited.
Like it or not there's something to be said for guys with high 5 start upside like he has. There's a ton of can't miss stories out there that do end up missing for sure but this is also the same group that prodcues the highest percentage of superstars as well.
By the end of the year I expect Shea and Haskins to be higher on this list. McSorley is a very good college QB, and Lewerke is more proven but Haskins and Shea will be #1 and #2 (Big10) based on who wins "the game" to end the year. IMHO
Why? He's led the Big Ten in passing the last two years in a row and will probably do so again this year. He's shown himself to be more than capable of leading PSU's offense.
Will he ever be an NFL QB? Doubtful. But he's a pretty damn good college QB. I wouldn't be surprised to see him end his career near the top of the board for overall passing yards in the conference.
Going pro in something other than sports
But I feel like I've heard Clayton Thorson's name for the past 9 seasons at Northwestern. I think he may have Robbie Hummel eligibilty.
Legit guys who can step up. Whether it's Shea, Peters, Milton or Dylan, with our defense, RBs and WRs, this should be a FUN year.
GO BLUE!!
Where did you see that Joe Milton is ready to be a starter?
I know it's a small sample size from what we've seen so far, but Haskins will be way better than that ranking.
B1G QB's:
4) JT Barrett - OSU
9) McSorley - PSU
23) Shea - Ole Miss*
26) Wilton
29) Thorson - Northwestern
45) Blough - Purdue
52) Hornibrook - Wisconsin
66) Lagow - Indiana
90) Lee - Nebraska
92) Lewerke - MSU
93) Stanley - Iowa
106) Henderson - Maryland
107) Crouch - Illinois
119) Rhoda - Minnesota
120) Rescigno - Rutgers
I LOT of new names/QB's on the list in the B1G. Wimbush checked in at 30. I personally like the preseason hype and talk...but in my opinion all these lists and rankings are for fun and discussion.

Anyone see Waldo on that list?
Tua Tagovailoa is Number 2? Granted, his performance in the National Championship is one for the ages, but he's played precisely one half of football for the Tide. Nobody has any idea how he's going to shake out relative to the rest of college football this season.
This whole list is clickbait bullshit.
another meaningless list. cool.
no offence to the op.
Lots of questions surrounding the offense heading into this season and we don't know how Patterson will fit in. The talent and potential is there, but I can understand not jumping to consider him a top 5 guy.
He's 5th on this list, and that's despite being ahead of Hoskins. But I wouldn't be shocked if Stanley finished 3rd- or 2nd-team all-B1G in 2018.
