Semi-OT: BYU vs. Utah Final Play Yakkety Sax
At the end of the BYU-Utah game the refs had to put on a last second on the clock because the incomplete ball hit the turf with one sec on the clock remaining. The crowd has rushed the field at this point but are forced to go to the sidelines because the refs correctly put a sec back on the clock.
The field goal kicker attempts and misses a 51 yard field goal but during the ensuing scrum, the kick was blocked, players and members of the crowd rush the field again. This results in a 15 yard live ball penalty which gives the kicker another attempt this time for 36 yards or so.
Kicker hits the left upright and BYU loses. Not a great season for kickers so far. Need to follow our very own Gibbon's advice and think about, above all else, brunettes. Just really entertaining end to the game.
Now, let's beat ND next week.

That was a crazy ending. Utah's fans almost ended up costing their team the game. I so wanted BYU to hit that FG and then win it in overtime. Just six inches to the right would have done it.

With all the missed field goals in college ball this season I'm starting to seriously question why teams aren't going for it on fourth every single time. It's getting to the point where when a kicker steps up I almost expect him to miss.

Dear State Street:
Missed field goals? I,for one, find it inexcuseable for something as simple as field goal to be missed - especially from short range. To have your team drive down the field and come away with no points when a field goal is botched....well....there is little in a game that saps the emotion of a team and the crowd supporting them more than that.
With all the coaches we have available and at our disposal it would certainly seem like a poor use of resources to not devote one of them full-time to the kicking game given its importance in the outcome of most games.
I know I'd never let that happen.

Can anybody think of an instance where a crowd has cost a team a game like this? (Assuming BYU came back? and won?)

The timekeeper pulled a Sparty on BYU with eight seconds left; they turned the clock on when it was supposed to be stopped. The refs made them put it back. Then, he let the clock run out when he should have stopped it with one second left. Utah should have been penalized the first time their fans went out onto the field, but weren't.
So, should I be a good sport and be happy that Michigan never, ever gets a break like that from the refs, home or away, or should I wish that Michigan could get some "home cooking" in the Big House once in awhile?

but at the end of the game I was kind of hoping to see BYU get a game-winning hail mary just because the utah fans were so stupid

At Michigan, we wait until after the coaches shake hands to rush the field, if we rush the field at all. Stay classy my friends....
