Season tix: Seat relocation update

Submitted by a2bluefan on

For those of us being relocated out of our Section 33 or 34 seats, today I received a letter from the ticket office.

In the letter, it showed my new location. I actually got my first choice (woo!). It stated that many more requests for North Endzone were made than they had seats available, so they had to use the priority point system.  Good thing for me, I was requesting Section 18 (Southwest corner) as I only have like 25-30 points.

Also, BONUS:  As a token of appreciation, relocated folks are receiving the Wolverine Seats cushions for free this season.  I had bought them anyway, so I'll get a refund.

Anyway.... just thought I'd post this little update, as I saw in another thread where some folks had called the ticket office to ask about their new location.

Is it September yet?

They are expanding the student section.  My previous seats were right on the aisle next to the students.  They're moving all of section 33 and part of section 34 folks to other locations to accommodate the expansion of the student section.

Guess I should've donated some money this year as I have 20+ points waiting to be activated if I'd have sent some cash.

Moved from Section 34 to Section 13.  At least I am closer to my tailgate!

Got the same notice yesterday of a move from section 33 to section 7. It was the first I had heard of this new reality, as I renew my tickets online and was not prompted while doing so that this would be happening. I'm very disappointed as I had no chance to at least request staying in the north endzone. A free seat cushion for a few games doesn't really make it a whole lot better.

Did you not also get the paper renewal application in the mail? All the details were in there, as well as a form to select your 1st thru 5th choices. I usually renew online as well, and was a little confused about it not showing my usual seat numbers.... until I got the paper app in the mail. Even folks who renewed online could still send in the seat selection form.

I immediately renewed with the arrival of the email letting me know renewal time was here (so as not to forget), and my usual seat numbers were there. When the paper stuff came in the mail, I discarded it as I had already renewed and, as has been the case for many years now, I suspected that all that remained within the envelope with the paper format was now entirely junk ... lesson learned, I guess. In the end, still in the Big House, just expect better.

let's see if they've honored my dad's request (made last year too!) to move our block of four tickets out of what has become, as of a couple years ago, RIGHT THE FUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE AWAY FAN SECTION.

It's a topic I feel strongly about.... fingers crossed.

I wouldn't like that at all. My first year post student tickets I was in the Southeast corner, and that was still too much like that for me, so  I moved across the next year. (I still don't get how half the people in the Stadium get used to the players running AWAY from them under the banner...)

Thanks! I chose 18 for several reasons (aside from a better view of the field than I had)... mostly because it gets me out of the sun quicker as the game progresses. The sun in the north endzone was BRUTAL. I also have a number of friends that sit anywhere from sections 16 to 20. And lastly, but also important, I'll get a much better view of the MMB when they're on the field.  I'll be up high...row 94... which I like (I was row 91 before). I'm looking forward to my new home. And if for some reason I hate it, I can always try to move again in 2012.

A better view of the other end, you're on the Michigan side, so you get to see the band and team come out. I little close to the opposing fans side, but eh. And the sun thing is nice. It never warms you as much in the cold weather as it boils you in the heat. And maybe best of all, if you're on the right side of the aisle, you don't have a seat license, so you're as close as you can be without paying more. (Yet).

Thanks for your insight, M-wolve. I did try to stay as far away from opposing fans as I could, and the list of choices they gave me... a large chunk of them are Section 12-13-14, etc... right in the middle of opponent hell.  (Years ago before I had season tix, I got stuck in the middle of section 13 for the OSU game. In the pouring rain. With Navarre having a bad day.) I have always had to pay $50-per seat license, as I fell into the category of "new season ticket holder as of" whatever the first year was that they did that.  I'm convinced that the A.D. strung me along for a few years.... I was able to buy full-season packages, but without the privilege to renew them, for 2 or 3 seasons before I became an "official" season tix holder.... just to keep me in the group that has to pay the extra $50-per-seat-per-year even if you're in the endzone.

I am in section 35 and don't mind the student section closer to us.  But after 26 years in the endzone I kinda wish we got bumped.  It was cool when I was 6 but now I wish we were a little higher up or at least between the 10's!
