Season Football Tickets Arrived in the Mail

Submitted by xtramelanin on

Mates,

I went to the mail box this morning (too busy and too hot yesterday), and lo and behold, my football season tickets have arrived.  I am not used to getting tickets until the ides of September are nearly upon us.  We live up north, but I'd be curious to see who/where others have gotten theirs.

As an aside, I did read a post by Seth weeks ago about how hard they are working to fix this place. I haven't been here, haven't been posting, but I appreciate that they are working on it.  I see no changes, but hopefully they will get it turned around.  I hope you are all having a great summer.  Super-duper hot up here, lost a bunch of livestock yesterday, worst day in all my years of farming.   Such is life.

Sorry for your loss XM as I know for people like you, livestock are more than just animals.  ?

Live 40 miles west of AA and got mine in the mail on Friday.  I was stunned.  I'm usually looking at this thread in August and wondering when the hell mine will come.

confession:  timed my swim in GT bay on friday to correspond with the blue angels practice session.   i love seeing them fly overhead and from in the water you can get a pretty neat perspective of distance as they zoom out and away, regroup, and then come in for the next maneuver.

While it's great to see that you're back and good that you received your tickets, that's pretty bad news about your livestock.   Mostly cattle or were there other casualties, too?

Not much of a break coming downstate either, low 90's today, low 80's on Monday, but back around 90 the rest of the week in SW Michigan with high humidity.  Hoping you and your critters have a better forecast in store up north!

fortunately the cattle all made it.  it was the chickens, particularly the 'meat birds' (the big ones we raise for roasting) that had a tough day.  we raise hundreds of those a year and lost dozens yesterday.  so far today we're good, not quite as hot, and i'm guessing the weaker ones were culled by the heat yesterday.  we have hundreds of laying chickens and they seem to have no problem with the heat.  they don't lay as many eggs when it gets this hot, but no mortality rate.

cheers to you rob.

Glad to see you back mate. Was hoping we didn’t lose one of the “good” posters. Hope today’s heat treats you better. Question from a city boy— how do you deal with an act of nature like this? I feel for your quiverfull also. Must be tough on them.

so the reality of losing livestock is that you bury them.  they compost/decompose.  its the cycle of life.  yesterday was just a dramatic (and expensive) cycle.  fortunately no cattle mortality but lost lots of birds. the kids are good with it to the extent that they take it pretty much like i do, sorry for the suffering of the heat, extra work now, lost income.  life lessons in that, as you well know since you are a successful parent.   any update on your missionary?

After getting back from a work trip I was stunned to see our set in the mail as well.  Have been used to getting them in the early part of August - feels a bit odd getting them while it's still June.

The design - it is definitely different than what we're used to.

Once I saw that envelope I looked around like I was taking them from someone else’s mailbox.  It felt like I had discovered Gold. I immediately wanted to tear open my Christmas gift and drive to AA, just to walk across the golf course one time towards the stadium.  There’s nothing better in this world than football Saturday’s in AA during the Fall.  GO BLUE!

In the mailbox today. Saw the envelope and thought, 'that envelope looks like football tickets, but this is June, it can't be football tickets.'

Seems like they came a little earlier this year! I also noticed they have Maize Out printed on then for the Nebraska game which is gonna be pretty cool. I'm guessing that'll be a night game.
