Scott Loeffler Rose Bowl Ring

Submitted by umhero on

A week ago there was a post about a 1997 National Championship Rose Bowl RIng for sale for $5999.  The auction ended on July 12.  I don't know if the ring sold.

Today Ebay has another (?) ring from the same team.  This one lists the player as Scott Loeffler and is available for under $1600 as of now.  Sounds like a bargain.  I guess he doesn't expect to ever come back as a coach.  I'd think it would help with recruiting.

He will work with my lawyer friend and I will contact eBay to make them aware.

Also heard back from "Pawnmster" the pawnshop in AZ.

Dear search4meaning,

yes Scot spells his name with only one t and this ring has tt. Someone walked into my Pawn shop with this ring

Hmmm...If I remember my law school personal property lectures correctly, the true owner of lost property prevails even against a subsequent good faith purchaser for value (subject to jurisdictional nuances, of course...but that's the general rule).

I know he mentioned it was stolen, but that presents a proof problem, and he may be forced to prosecute the claim as though the status of the ring was "lost" or "misplaced" property.

I wish him the best of luck in getting it back.

Who called him a dick and traitor, and speculated about messy divorces, or thought he hated Michigan or were saying he just tried to make a quick buck.

That would be one of our lowest hours.  And that type of stuff occurs way more often than the helpful stuff.
