SB Wins Game 1 vs Iowa
The Softball Team defeated Iowa in the first of two today at Alunmi Field. The score was 6-0 under sunny skies and 34 degrees.
Kelly (Christner) kept her hot bat going by hitting a solo HR. She also scored 3 runs. Kelsey (Susalla) went 1 for 3 with 2 RBIs.
Romo Watch: 1 for 2 with 2 runs scored. She batted in the 3rd slot today.
Megan (Besta) dominated the Hawkeyes and it was not fair. She sat-down 16 batters while only yielding 1 walk. This is a career high for Megan. She gave up 3 hits.
The second game today will start shortly.
Penn State took care of MSU 7-4.
Minny is leading Nebraska 8-3 in the 7th. Like I said in my pre-season report; Minny is for real.
Illinois leads Indiana 3-1 in the 3rd.
NW leads Wiskey 3-1 in the 2nd.
Rutgers leads Purdue 3-1 in the 3rd.
You slipped, MGS. You failed to give us her last name.

Was the score 6-0, or 6-3? I'm confused.
Mgoblue says 6-0
I believe the OP meant 3 hits given up, not runs. Christner's HR was inside the park. Michigan's 6 runs were off of only 4 hits. They took a lot advantage of walks, hpb, and errors.
for point this out.
Iowa leads 1-0 in the 3rd. Haylie (Wagner) is in the circle.
in the top of the 3rd. Iowa leads 1-0.
I wonder if they considered riding out Betsa to start this game until the iowa hitters showed any sign of catching on to her....
a base loaded double, now 3-1 us.
now 3-2 us.
now lead 4-3.
in the bottom of the 5th inning with 2 on. Now 6-4 us.
Lauren Sweet pinch hitting, that is great news
Megan comes in relief and picks up the win in game 2.
Megan Betsa strikes out 20 batters in 9 innings pitched over the two games... wowee
Michigan, Minnesota, and Northwestern remain in a tie at the top of the standings at 5-0
Wagner ended up with the victory in Game 2 as UM had gone ahead before Betsa came in to relieve her. So, Betsa gets a save:

Betsa and Wagner ended up with same number of Ks in Game 2 (4 apiece) but Betsa got hers in 2 innings and Wagner got hers in 5.
chance to make up some room in the national rankings as well.. lsu has dropped the first two in its series with kentucky and oregon got run - ruled today by washington.... this bodes well for our regional seeding
rankings: 1.lsu 2. Fla 3. Ore 4. Mich
Rpi: 1.fla 2. LSU 3. mich
we very well may lose fewer games than the sec and pac12 teams competing with us in the standings, but I am curious what type of leeway they have in losses vs the strength they will add to their schedule compared to ours... I would love to sneak into the 1 seed
in Ann Arbor for that doubleheader today than it did here in northern Berrien County---it only reached 35 here, with a steady wind out of the north off Lake Michigan. Being just a half-dozen miles or so from the big lake, the air has no chance of warming no matter how brightly the sun shines when the wind blows down the entire length of COLD Lake Michigan in late March.
