SB Selection Show 10pm
The Softball Selection Show is at 10pm tonight on ESPNU. The concensus on the Softball Boards are the we are a #4/5. Some have us as high as a #3 and some have us as low as a #6. As long as we are #8 or higher, we host Regionals and if we win, we would host the Super Regionals.
The Regionals are a 4 Team Tourney hosted by the top 16 seeded teams. It is double elimination.
The Super Regionals are a 2 Team Best of 3 Tourney. These are held at 8 sites and the winners advance to the World Series.
The World Series is May 28-June3 and features the winners of the 8 Super Regionals. The World Series is held in Oklahoma City. All the World Series games (15 min) will be hosted by the ESPN Family of networks.
My guess is that we get a #5 Seed and play the Tennessee Regional Winner.
#1 Florida
#2 Oregon
#3 MICHIGAN
#4 Auburn
#5 LSU
#6 Alabama
#7 UCLA
#8 Tennessee
#9 Florida St
#10 Missouri
#11 Oklahoma
#12 Arizona
#13 UL Lafayette
#14 Georgia
#15 James Madison
#16 ND
you covered if the signal does not go that far north.
Top four seeds will be revealed in a few minutes on twitter.

These are in alphabetical order so my guess is that we are a #4.
Awesome! I was hoping for that #4 slot, but would have been happy with 5 or higher. I expect we're in at 4 out of this set, but an outside chance at 3. Getting these higher seeds can really make a difference for your chances of advancing, so this is really good.
it makes a HUGE difference getting the higher seed. So a #4 Seed does not hurt my feelings at all. Now we just have to #WIN
seeds 13, 14, 15, and 16 have a lot more weaknesses to take advantage of than better seeds... many are struggling at the close of the season and dropping
Very true. They're also more vulnerable to upset within their regionals, a) because they're going to be a bit weaker themselves and b) because they're facing those teams that didn't miss by much. Michigan has proved this in the recent past, winning a couple regionals on the road in the last few years.
I'd be surprised if we drop further than 4 after dominating the Big Ten Tourney.... I'm hoping the committee learned its lesson about putting half of the SEC in the top 10 last football season, but I won't hold my breath.
The SEC teams are way overranked in the RPI this season. LSU was at #2 with ten losses, for example, and I think they had six of the top ten or something like that.
Human polls have been much better, and Michigan has been steady at #3 in those.
#2 in RPI heading into the weekend. They did not make it into the SEC Final Game so the Committee must have dropped them for that.
Selection show is underway...
Go Blue!!
way too high for them. Kentucky, Ball St and Northwestern in this Regional. I will take Northwestern in this Regional.
No ND, Hofstra or Kentucky.
Whew.
Notre Dame hosting a regional (#16), so that rules them out as an opponent for us. Impressive for them.
Florida State is the 9 seed.
Michigan swept them on the road.
who was outside looking in for the top 16 seeds. They got two pitchers in the top 5 in ERA including a ERA leader. Their combined ERA for the season is an incredible .88. UCF can absolutely win the FSU regional.
Anyone know of an ESPNU link? Do not give me ESPN3
I like this seed. Tennessee is one of my other favorite teams.
Boooo. Have you forgotten 2010?
That was actually my first ever live softball game. It says a lot about how awesome Alumni Field is that, even with a disappointing result, I immediately fell in love with the enivornment and the team.
Tennessee grabs the 8 on the strength of a late-season run. The committee definitely taking the tourneys into account - may help explain our top-4 rating as well.
Wow, thought that Tennessee coach was making out with one of his players there...
I thought the exact same thing. I had to take a double take.
Nebraska, Texas Southern and Arizona St in this Regional.
Nebraska makes the tourney in LSU's regional. Good for the Big Ten to get them in - that means 4, since Minny is in for sure, and we already saw Northwestern in there as well.
Minny gets in at AZ.
Hahahaha good luck with that one Minnesota.
Good for ULL getting a seed. As a fellow national powerhouse from a smaller conference, I have to give them some love. I know Hutch has huge respect for their coach, too.
#3 SEED!!!!
I won't have to eat my shoe after all!
YES!! Pollsters over RPI for us!
Michigan is gonna be either the 2 or 3 seed.
Auburn with the 4...
We are at least a #3.
Minny got screwed out of hosting a regional, but this could work to their advantage. Arizona is very beatable.... and then they avoid a potential super regional against a top 4 seed on the road if they were to host at 15 or 16 as expected....
At least Nebraska and Northwestern got in.
I'm happy with #3, let's see who's coming to Ann Arbor!
Oregon in at #2, which means we're #3. FANTASTIC set-up for us. Let's see who we end up facing...
Interesting regional for James Madison - lots of smaller schools there.
Anyone could win that Regional
No Louisville! Interesting.
I'm thinking about catching a couple of the regional games next weekend. How should I go about getting tickets?
have a few left. But call early tomorrow.
