SB Open Thread vs NEB @ 1pm BTN

Submitted by MGoSoftball on April 10th, 2016 at 12:07 PM

The SB Team is playing in Lincoln this afternoon in a rubber match against NEB.  On Friday, NEB squeeked out a 1-0 win in the bitter cold.  A walk came back to bite us.

Yesterday, we came back with revenge and Romo and So-Lo went deep.  In SB terms we say they put the bats in the oven overnight to warm them up.

Today's game-time weather should be about 65F so the cold will not be a factor.

be surprised if the NEB pitcher gets called for an Illegal pitch.  When she rocks back, her lead foot is very close to losing contact with the pitching plate.

2 runs scored on the error by the SS.

hit kelsey.  The question is whether it is in the strike zone, either way it is a dead ball.

Bad call by the Umps and this one is easy.  The ball makes a different sound coming off the bat compared to an arm or arm guard.  Tisk tisk

swing was a checked swing but the Umpires ruled it a full swing.  In this case, it does not matter if the ball hits the player or not.  It is still a strike and a dead ball.

Betsa chased, bases loaded with 1 out for Dreisenga. Despite our shiny record/ranking, this team does not look like a world series team, or what was expected to possibly he our best team ever.

We are sorely missing both Wagner and Sweet. Poor play from both of these key positions in the field too often. Catchers are allowing too many pass balls, doing a poor job of framing pitches, and struggling to throw out runners.

Nice hit by Falk double to the fence to start the 2nd. Would be nice if Christner's bat warmed up. She's way down on HR this year, as is the whole team, right?

Looking ahead we (6-2) play: MSU, OSU, Maryland, PSU, Rutgers. We have no business dropping a game to anyone not named OSU.

Minny (7-1) has Wisconsin, Rutgers, Nebraska, Maryland, Iowa.
