Wow - this looks like the fourth team ranked ahead of us to lose. We could well be in the top 15 in the polls tomorrow.

right? Not sold on being top 15 until after ND. Not complaining though.

After that marquee win over the powerhouse that is Boise State and the beatdown of a top-tier MAC team in Central Michigan, MSU is a clear-cut top 5 team, the B1G favorite, and national championship contender.
Yeah...the next time I visit an MSU blog will be for schadenfreude purposes only.

Nice TD run. Them 'Zona boys are smellin' their asses out there.

I have seen that before.

I've never seen over 150 by a team before. Unreal.

That ought to give us an idea of where the Cats stand.

to be an Arizona fan right now.

Arizona at Oregon
So RR can coach with a DC he trusts and a QB not named Sheridan or Threat.

I don't know what Rich Rod did, but the eye test is telling me this Arizona team would have beaten 2008 Michigan by 30. There's no way they have more talent coming off of a 4-8 season than we did, right?
No really... wtf?

This Arizona team is much more talented than 2008 Michigan.
On offense, Matt Scott is currently a better passer than every version of Denard we've seen (including his present improvements). He's basically like a more mature version of Forcier. Tonight he was 28/41 for 320 yards with 2 TDs and 0 Ints. He always seems to make the right decisions in the passing game. They also have a running back who is an all-purpose threat. The offensive line seems a little shoddy in the run game, but 2008 Michigan was even worse (let's not think about the current version, either).
On defense, there is no Graham. However, they seem to have a lot of ninjas and enough depth to rotate. Rodriguez is playing more than 20 players on defense every game. The defensive backs are pretty physical, and they made three interceptions tonight. Michigan would probably take about half of UA's current defense and start at least three of them, particularly in the secondary. They even have a walk-on safety who plays physical and always seems to make tackles in the open field. He might have better hands than Kovacs, too.
The 2008 defense is probably a step above Arizona's current defense, but Arizona's offense is somewhere around 2010 Michigan. I easily give Arizona the overall edge.

Arizona won despite giving up 636 (!) yards of offense.
Rich Rod has finally realized his dream of making defense completely optional.

True that, but OK State has a pretty potent offense. What's surprising is that RR hung 59 points on a team that looked pretty darn good last year.
September 9th, 2012 at 5:14 PM ^
Well, you're half right. Their offense was very good last year. Their defense not so much, ranking 107 in total defense last year.

personality and DNA suits the underdog role. It's like he's better at driving the General Lee rather than a Porsche. If you ain't first, you're last.

Most teams are going to lose on the road with a frosh QB when they turn the ball over 4 times and have 150+ yds in penalties.
I'm rooting for RR anyhow.

Lost to Sacramento State at home in Boulder. Who ever heard of Sacramento State?
