Saturday's "What are you drinking?" and St. Patty's Day thread

Submitted by Chester Cheetah on

Yes, I know that St. Patrick's Day isn't until tomorrow but I believe most people will be celebrating it today since tomorrow is a Sunday and a hangover tomorrow is much better than one on Monday.

Right now I'm in Chicago drinking coffee about to get my day started with some eggs, bacon and Glenlivet 15.

So what are everybody else's plans for the weekend and what sort of beverages will you be enjoying?

Also, I saw on Twitter a quote from Trouba: We'd like to avoid playing on Sunday.  It's St. Patrick's Day.

I like the way he plays and thinks.

waking up means going out in this snow and cold weather to devastate my body, which, over the last four years, would have been great fun. but now that i'm graduated, i just wonder, like, what's the point, man?

fear, as somewhat your elder, I can tell you that St. Patty's Day continues to be a celebration of beer drinking, it just becomes a calmer, more sedated version of that.  Buckets of beer at six o'clock in the morning turns into a good 12 pack of some kind of Irish beer starting around noon while watching some good basketball.  It can be with friends or solo, just a good day to have a few, poor a bottle into a tall glass and look at the head while sipping, and just think about the Spring to come shortly.  And you don't destroy your body for the next week, just a quick headache the day after and your good to go.  Cheers.

I've got a stomach virus so I'm laying in bed and drinking water all day. Along with frequent trips to the shitter, I'm sure.

I feel for ya.   My whole family was in that exact same position last weekend.   You just have to wait it out.   It's not fun at all.

Ginger Ale, Gatorade, and water were the only things that I could get down.

Best of luck.

One Costco sack of red skin potatoes, 3 heads of cabbage and 8 pounds of corned beef, 1 bottle of Irish Whiskey, 8 pints of Guinness, 6 bottles of Smithwicks, 4 pints of Murphy's Irish Stout, and a bottle of Bailey's Irish Cream. Saint Patty's Day weekend, I'm ready for you!

Left the gym and can finally start drinking. Weirdly, they don't let you enjoy their. I will be finishing the redds apple ale and Busch light that's home in the fridge. Then I will be getting fucked up at bowling on whatever they put in the pitcher when I order miller lite. Might jus drink the whole non-football season away

Not a huge fan of the latest album. Its not bad, but doesn't hold up to previous efforts. That being said, they've been one of my favorite bands since the early 90s, and I can't wait to see them again.

I will make sure we get there early enough to see the openers, on your recommendation.

I can agree to that, although its hard to match those albums since they set the bar so high. At least it's better than their previous 2-3 albums.
I've never seen Periphery live, so I can't promise they'll sound as good as their recorded stuff, but that probably goes without saying for a lot of bands.

I'll probably get lampooned for this, but going to the Columbus Crew home opener tonight. So a mixture of whiskey, PBR, and Kraken (via flask hidden in my sock).
If its any consolation, I've been screaming for Meram to get more playing time for 2 years now.

Well, I plan to break into the Guinness later, but for now, it's coffee and an impending trip to Meijer to get the necessary fixings for tomorrow's stew. Tonight, I am going to try out a recipe for Chicken Jerusalem that sounded good when someone talked me through it at work. Hopefully, I remembered everything.

My parents are coming by in a bit to take me out for a 30th birthday lunch (birthday is on Monday). So I will probably have a couple beers on them. Then one of my wife's friends is having a housewarming party. Will drink some more there. Then another one of our friends is having a St. Patty's day party later tonight where I will be doing some car bombs and more drinking.

Will attempt to wake up tomorrow for some bloodies on campus and more drinking. I took Monday off from work to recover and chill on my birthday.

Well there is Captain and Amaretto in the freezer, so I guess Captain and Amaretto. There is also some everclear, but I don't think we're quite ready to get on that level. A run to Stricklands for whatever beer is cheap for a lot may be in order later after our judgement gets cloudy.

When I was in undergrad (just typing that makes me feel old) St. Patty's Day started before the sun came up.  A weekend St. Patty's Day was a recipie for 24 hours of drinking, 7:30 is nothing.

The nickname for tomorrow is St. Paddy's Day.  Paddy is short for Patrick (Padraig in Irish).

Patty is short for Patricia.

Captain and Cherry Coke. On a side note, I'm a big fan of St. Patrick's day for the drinking and celebrating our Irish heritage, but I've never been a fan of the color green. Everywhere I look I get to see Michigan State shirts today and tomorrow. Yuck.
