My distain for DB may almost be as great as the person in your avitar. On second thought, it is worse. M football is all I look forward to. I only watch the Lions because they make me feel a little bit better about my weekends in the fall lately.

Webb is basically saying that it's not known exactly what was said and when, as it was all through back channels and such, but UM had the feeling he was in the bag. Never got to the point of putting pen to paper to drawing up contracts. Someone in another thread mentioned that their impression was that Brandon reached out to Harbaugh mid 2010 season, got a preliminary 'yes' and then just let it go. Then the end of the season rolls around, Harbaugh maybe hears some more unflattering things about Brandon, maybe 49ers come courting, maybe Brandon drops the ball in actively recruiting him, but decides to take the 49ers offer.

If someone creates that thread, of course, we'll need the followup thread where someone talks about framing effect and risk aversion as a function of Jim Harbaugh. If there is any sports blog that could competently conduct and publish such a study of its own users, it would be this one, I would say.
