Sad Sunday Rhymin' Time -- MGoBlog Not-A-Sonnet 1013*

Submitted by chatster on
There were vict’ries for U-M’s old D co’rdinators.
Scott Shafer and ‘Cuse beat up on N. C.’s Staters.
Clueless Gerg proved that even his D could deliver,
As Longhorns crushed Sooners in the fight for Red River.
But it wasn’t the same for U-M’s coaching staff.
Their baffling play calls led to many a gaffe.
Despite a third quarter that saw Michigan rally,
It was not a good night in Penn State’s Happy Valley.
For most of the night, the O line took its hits.
U-M’s running attack rarely got yards from Fitz.
But Jake Ryan returned and Frank Clark really starred.
Yet in that last minute, U-M’s defense was scarred.
At the end, U-M learned how good coaching defeats ya.
When bowl invites arrive, could this mean Pizza Pizza?

* Don’t call it a limerick; don’t call it a sonnet.
Don’t call it a tweet or a twerk or a twahnet.
Don’t call it a poem, even though it might rhyme.
Just don’t call it Shirley when you call it this time.

Depression, endless gloom

Fitz Toussaint into posterior Kalis

Loss of 1

Depression, endless gloom

Fitz Toussaint into posterior Kalis

Gain of 1

Depression, endless gloom

Ball from hand to ground incomplete

Gain of 0, punt

Depression, endless gloom

Hoke is charlie weis without the 'decided schematic advantage' level of arrogance. IDGAF if that rhymes

My issue is that Hoke just stands around clapping looking like an idiot on the sidelines when his team is falling apart and his staff is letting him down. I understand he delegates, but maybe it's time to start coaching. Then FINALLY he decides to put a headset on, didn't help, though.

I don't feel terrible because this team was unlikely for greatness

It makes me less apt to show Hoke and his staff hateness

Still, what the coaches do is concerning

It doesn't seem that their play calls show learning

A run up the middle, nothing doing again

Borges undeterred still thinks we can!

More problems arise I am not sure about

It might be time to get the Funk out

During the last days of Lloyd Carr's run
Only Pyrrhic victories might be won
Michigan needs a new Carr the blog rhetoric stated
Sailboat Willie capitulated

A hot spread coach from the sticks was retained
He doesn't get it...a legion of Michigan Men soon complained
The spread brought points but the defense was lacking
Coach Rod was soon holding hands and playing Josh Groban as backing

Let's return to our roots Teflon Dave concluded
We can bring back manball and the concerns will be muted
In year one the team backed into a Bowl of Sugar so sweet
But any rational observer could see the roster was weak

Ramped up hopes and irrational expectation
This be the province of the Michigan Nation
Top five classes take time to mature
Even Saban in Tuscaloosa; his high payroll could not quick development ensure

Two years away from being nationally relevant
The outcomes of the journey from Lloyd to Rod to Hoke are still evident
The complaining, unsurprising, but I'm not et ready to hate
I'd always rather be Michigan than Ohio or Staee.

I get a sense most of you weren't around during the RR era.  Or during the end of the Carr era.  Or really, any time in UM football history save for 1997 and Fielding Yost.

They lost a game.  It sucks.  People claiming the season is lost and Hoke is the worst coach ever need to step back from their keyboards or, I don't know, drink a bottle of rubbing alcohol to take the edge off.

For MGoBlog, I’m very old and I’m surely older than most.
Seen the winged helmet since the sixties, so I missed on Fielding Yost.
I’ve watched lots of Michigan football and there’s something that I know.
With Moeller, Carr and Rich Rod, there’s still not been another Bo.
Now, Brady Hoke might be the man; yet there’s one thought he might master:
Team one-three-four’s just not that good, though far from a disaster.
Against the Zips and Huskies, their performance wasn’t great.
So it was no surprise that in four O-T’s they lost against Penn State.
Excuses like they’re still too young and most are just now learning
Can’t disguise the O-line’s weaknesses as autumn leaves are turning.
Among Kalis and Braden and Kugler and Bosch and Magnuson and Bars,
Are there some who’ll be destined for greatness, confirming recruiting sites’ stars?
There’s half a season still to play, so I’m not jumping off the ledge.
But I’m not drinking rubbing alcohol just to take away the edge.
