Saban statue at Bama

From my understanding, any coach who wins a National Title at Alabama gets a statue. But yes, it is a little weird.

Yep, here's the Gene Stallings statue:
November 7th, 2015 at 11:29 AM ^
Would it kill them to plant some grass around that?
November 7th, 2015 at 11:44 AM ^
That's how grass looks in Alabama

Les MIles is in town.

have lived in alabama, can confirm
November 7th, 2015 at 11:49 AM ^
Is it just me or is this placed in a location that would make you say, "Oh, and there's Gene Stallings too. That's cool."
Yeah, at least a small, tasteful arborvitae or a shrub or something to spruce up that spot just a little bit.

Fallout 4 looks AMAZING
November 7th, 2015 at 12:42 PM ^
This killed me
November 7th, 2015 at 11:09 AM ^
I'm sure that's not the only weird thing happening in Alabama...

Wisconsin has a statue of Barry, and he's still the AD. I like to think he goes to Camp Randall and stands next to it all the time.
November 7th, 2015 at 11:18 AM ^
Worth his weight in bronze?
November 7th, 2015 at 11:10 AM ^
I mean...they put this thing up before Tebow even left school
November 7th, 2015 at 11:11 AM ^
There's precedent for this. PSU also had a statue of their then-current coach (later removed due to unusual circumstances).
November 7th, 2015 at 11:11 AM ^
Is this in South Bend?
November 7th, 2015 at 11:16 AM ^
What would have happened if the coach that Kelly attacked had fought back and kicked his ass? Who would have stayed, and if dismissed, how much would the school have had to pay the asst? Would it have been Weis like numbers? Dude has no self control on the sidelines. Good thing or Bad thing?

Lmao!

If I had to bet the family goat I'd say that Saban mandated it.
November 7th, 2015 at 11:11 AM ^
With him when he takes the Texas job?
November 7th, 2015 at 11:11 AM ^
Bobby Bowden had a statue at FSU while he was still coaching.
November 7th, 2015 at 11:22 AM ^
Should PSU melt down Paterno's?
November 7th, 2015 at 11:46 AM ^
They took paternos down?
November 7th, 2015 at 11:22 AM ^
Smart move. If sparty had put up a saban statue he might still be in EL.
November 7th, 2015 at 11:22 AM ^
His statue was delivered to Norman this week on the back of a flatbed, uncovered. The president of the university was not happy.
November 7th, 2015 at 11:47 AM ^
Nice. Delivered like Solo in carbonite.
November 7th, 2015 at 3:34 PM ^
That story was straight up hilarious:
November 7th, 2015 at 11:22 AM ^
But do they have advertising in the stadium at Alabama?

They do. It's not terribly invasive, but it is there.
November 7th, 2015 at 7:36 PM ^
only for ESPN
November 7th, 2015 at 11:23 AM ^
Bud Kilmer had a statue while still coaching.

After a home game against Eastern Michigan, I built a statue of myself out of trash and broken sticks.
It was destroyed by students in less than fifteen minutes.
November 7th, 2015 at 11:26 AM ^
Harbaugh could get a statue at U of M. He'd hate it because it didn't run fast enough.
November 7th, 2015 at 11:35 AM ^
No statues for the boosters at Bama?
Disrespect is disrespectful.
November 7th, 2015 at 7:38 PM ^
their statues of humming on Saban's nuts would be a bit inappropriate
November 7th, 2015 at 11:38 AM ^
it's all mediocre-to-bad sculpture.
November 7th, 2015 at 11:39 AM ^
Auburn put up a Cam Newton statue.
November 7th, 2015 at 11:39 AM ^
Isn't the harbaugh statue coming up soon?
November 7th, 2015 at 11:48 AM ^
it's a dumb trend. It feels like a nouveau riche guy trying to be respectable . . ."Hey look, we have a statue! We're classy!"
It's like naming your house "Ever After."

It's stupid nobody should have a statue until they have left or retired the program

And then died so they can't possibly embarrass the program.
November 7th, 2015 at 1:06 PM ^
Saban's statue should be him handing an envelope to a player. Or should that be Urban's statue?
I kiiiid, I kiiiid.
November 7th, 2015 at 1:45 PM ^
Those hilljacks are going to have the crotch of that statue rubbed to a mirror shine in a week's time, guaranteed.
November 7th, 2015 at 4:09 PM ^
WAYYYY out of bounds, man
Edit: wrong thread
November 7th, 2015 at 6:26 PM ^
I assumed the Bob Stoops picture was photo-shopped. I can't believe that is real. It is epically stupid on soooo many levels.
