Ryan Glasgow is in a sling; "working through some things" per Durkin

Submitted by Erik_in_Dayton on

I don't know how to embed a tweet, but Angelique and Nick Baumgardner both reported this via Twitter within the last hour.  Baumgardner said there is nothing definitive.

Durkin added that Wormley and Henry can play inside along with Hurst - this per Baumgardner.

My mistake, and I'm glad I missed Godin and Wormley. Of course our depth is better. I just looked at the chart and focused on NT, SDE, WDE. Skipped DT. Still, six guys is thinner then we'd like. If Glasgow comes back healthy, we go up to seven. Plus I suppose Ross can be a backup at buck.

One thing is I'm glad we've got commitments from Weaver, Johnson, and Kemp, and that we are very strongly in the mix for Gary, Daniels, Elliott, and Onwuzurike.

Lawrence Marshall is also back on the depth chart. Not sure he'll actually play, or how well he'd do if he did (Indiana's up tempo offense is a bad place to start getting your first meaningful reps), but at least it's an option.

This sucks, but to keep things in perspective which line in the Big Ten would you like to trade the remaining line of  Wormley, Godin, Hurst, Henry, Charlton, RJS for?

We're going to be ok and Wormley is a starter.

isnt this why you have 80 some odd players standing on the sidelines every game? every team in the country is going thru the same thing. this is when coaching comes into play. believe me who ever plays will be ready. depth doesnt mean anything if the next man up cant play.  have faith.

I think we are still very fine on the D-Line.

DE - Henry, Charlton

DT - Wormley, Godin

NT - Hurst, Henry

BUCK - RJS, Ross

Other players who could step up... Pallente, Marshall.

I think THIS coaching staff can make this rotation work for Indiana and Penn State. Isn't Penn States offensive line not very good anyways?

We are good with the rotation this year. And probably good next year (depending on how things go at buck, with both Ojemudia and Jenkins-Stone gone). The question will be 2017 for the DL. Fortunately, that is far enough away for guys currently on the roster to be developed, and for newcomers to step in and have a year of seasoning.

This really underscores the value of preferred walkons. Both Graham and Ryan Glasgow are stalwarts of the OL and DL respectively. Both came as PWO. I'm thankful that Harbaugh and his coaching staff are really working to bring in solid recruits as PWO's.

I really felt like Glasgow was the "plug" of our D Line. He made our LB's job much easier and not a whole lot made it to the second level. Morgan, Bolden and Ross gotta step up down the stretch. Durkin über alles!

Hearing this news that Glasgow might be out makes me wish an actual wolverine would come into frame and eat the grape that the red panda is eating. And then eat the panda. And then raise it's paw and ask for a helmet sticker.

The sling isn't exactly informative between a strain/strain or a stretch/tear. I feel like my fandom is in the same holding pattern with this information as it was without it.

Where do you watch games in Dayton besides home?  I watch with my boys who I have made into Wolverine fans (Yes indeed, thank you very much).  I hate this ocean of diarrhea in Ohio.  It would be nice to know of a bar to go to with fellow Wolverine fans!!!!

I lived in Dayton until a year ago. What part of Dayton are you from? I was south Dayton and there wasn't anywhere you could go that wasn't bathed in Scarlet and Gray. Doubleday's is really one of the main offenders. They some some sort of tie to the Nugents. I normally just stayed to myself.

Sorry to interrupt this thread, but I want to say the following: Today is an important day in America. If you are a veteran or you are the family member of a veteran, I just want to thank you for the sacrifices you and your family have made for our freedom. Without the efforts of our veterans, we could never enjoy the things we take for granted. God bless. Thank you. GO BLUE !!!

It's hard to tell, and obviously video replay isn't a diagnostic tool.

But there's likely two basic issues.

Partial dislocation/laxity

or

Rotator cuff tear (any one of 4 muscles) likely his subscapularis, judging from the video.

You'd hold the shoulder for either injury. And from the video it could be either.

A partial dislocation (which if it was, would be chronic, because he seemed to know exactly what it was as he walked off), is pretty easy, 1-2 weeks, max, with very little drop off, if any. But, there's light strain of the rotator cuff as well, so it's not so cut-and-dry.

A partial rotator cuff tear, would be more sucky. And the way it's treated (at the upper level), is, unfortunately, rest, and get back out and keep going. But rotator cuffs are tricky.

Best case, he could be back for Indiana, more likely PSU. Worst case, he sits till OSU/Bowl. Unless of course they're completely hiding the fact that he'll have it repaired. In that case, it's season-ending, of course.

Luckily as an M-Football athlete, they'll MRI it and gauge the severity. So he'll get the best care on earth. Literally.
