Running Backs Coach Update
I apologize if this has already been posted, but according to the Det News, Wheatley will be in town this week to discuss the opening on the coaching staff. The rest of the article is mostly stuff we already knew.

Hopefully they can land him! Harbaugh is a beast!
January 6th, 2015 at 7:21 AM ^
This would be huge for the program for sure.

I am new to here and I'm wondering if anyone can tell me why it comes up access denied when I click on the strength coach question on the MGoBoard?
January 6th, 2015 at 7:29 AM ^
That usually means the moderators took it down for some reason. I didn't see the thread so I don't want to speculate why. I'm sure someone else did and can provide answers.
January 6th, 2015 at 8:02 AM ^
The weird thing is that the post continues to be visible; if the mods take a post down it normally disappears pretty quickly. On top of that, the number of comments keeps increasing; I first tried to click on it when it had six comments, but I got the "access denied" message. Now the number of comments is up to 25.
January 6th, 2015 at 8:18 AM ^
I noticed the same thing - the post count was up to 26 so I clicked on it and still got "access denied."
January 6th, 2015 at 11:01 AM ^
There were two threads last night, and the second one got deleted. The first one is still viewable on the mobile app, which is probably why it keeps increasing.
January 6th, 2015 at 9:46 AM ^
Maize n Blue recliner with a cup holder for game days for his dedicated years of service. Tyrone would be a great hire and great for recruiting. Can you imagine Jim Harbaugh and Ty Wheatly sitting in a recruits living room.
January 6th, 2015 at 4:23 PM ^
I have no idea what happened there. There was a duplicate post and I unpublished the second one, then the first one read as unpublished and I couldn't find the first one. It's either something I did or a bug in the site, no idea which.
January 6th, 2015 at 7:28 AM ^
It does the same for me, but I can access it on the mobile app.
January 6th, 2015 at 7:29 AM ^
Maybe it's being editited right now.
January 6th, 2015 at 7:41 AM ^
Either it was deleted, or the title was changed (so when you are clicking on it, it's looking for a page name that doesn't exist and was changed to something else).
For example, if someone puts up a page that is titled (Running backs coach) and the OP or the mods change it to (CC - Running backs coach) it will give you an "access denied" error if you're clicking on the old link or trying to refresh the old page. You have to refresh the main page and then click on it again in the sidebar.
January 6th, 2015 at 8:09 AM ^
It's because you're new here that you can't access it.
I can access it just fine.
Exclusive threads are part f the MGoPremium package which can be purchased from me for $5.

I feel like I'm missing out on so much. Do you accept MasterCard?
January 6th, 2015 at 7:45 AM ^
I appreciate the feedback.
January 6th, 2015 at 7:50 AM ^
No real new news that we didn't really know vs. just reading MGoBlog. Good job Brian & Co.
January 6th, 2015 at 8:05 AM ^
Did I miss it somewhere ? Seemed like Wheatley was not going to be an option, all was quiet. This is actually pretty big news to me.
January 6th, 2015 at 9:33 AM ^
was news to me. Good news, too.
January 6th, 2015 at 8:24 AM ^
Sam Webb said yesterday on Michigan Insider that Ty Wheatley to Michigan is more than just speculation but he, for the time being, cannot elaborate.
January 6th, 2015 at 9:49 AM ^
Not a gut feeling just yet???
January 6th, 2015 at 8:30 AM ^
So, what we're saying is there might be some chance that we could indeed be in for a "burst of Wheatleys" on campus if this goes our way? That is to say, there is a non-zero probability of said occurence? I like this thought because having Wheatley on staff would be an awesome get, in my opinion.
January 6th, 2015 at 8:34 AM ^
Burst or bushel?

... I'd prefer a Shock of Wheatleys.
January 6th, 2015 at 10:08 AM ^
Hello post came in pairs.
January 6th, 2015 at 9:04 AM ^
Have there been statements made that Wheatley's son would attend where is father is coaching if he fact moved back from the NFL? I've seen statements made on this board but don't recall reading anywhere whether this was ever stated by Wheatley himself.
January 6th, 2015 at 9:58 AM ^
No statements that I'm aware of, just an assumption.
January 6th, 2015 at 8:36 AM ^
Didnt realize he was at Oakland in 2002 when Harbaugh was the quarterbacks coach there
January 6th, 2015 at 8:44 AM ^
Is everyone pining for Wheatley because of his history?
How can we objectively measure Wheatley's impact on his past RB coaching gigs (not his UM or Raiders data)
January 6th, 2015 at 8:49 AM ^
Buffalo finished 25th in rushing at nearly 93 yards a game. That said, they have one good player on offense and he's a WR (Watkins). Idk what that means for Tyrone but I'd take him over Fred.
January 6th, 2015 at 9:04 AM ^
is how much the "Michigan Man" thing is hated, and yet we have JH and thinking of Wheatley. It's actually a bit confusing to me...
January 6th, 2015 at 9:30 AM ^
We didn't get Jim Harbaugh because he's a Michigan guy. We got him because he was the best damn coach available.
He just happened to go to Michigan as well.

This isn't quite right. We did get Jim Harbaugh because he's a Michigan guy. We would have wanted him whether he went to Michigan or not, but he probably wouldn't have been interested in us if he hadn't gone to Michigan. It's not like Harbaugh was a hot name in the Florida or Nebraska search.
January 6th, 2015 at 8:49 AM ^
I had the honor of getting to know him while he coached at a local collage. He is a tremendous person and the kids loved him.
January 6th, 2015 at 8:57 AM ^
With that pic and collage vs college? Well done, sir.
January 6th, 2015 at 9:07 AM ^
thanks. was in a hurry and seen that after the fact, and could not edit because of you so i am giving you a +1
January 6th, 2015 at 9:09 AM ^
does NOT equal being a good coach. Example: Fred Jackson. I think. It could be that everything else was wrong with the offense and Fred was doing a great job. I'm not thinking I believe that any more.
January 6th, 2015 at 9:20 AM ^
Yes maybe the game has passed Fred by, but give the man his due for being what he was - a great running backs coach. Look at his record over all of his years and I think his record stands against anybody else in the country.
January 6th, 2015 at 10:49 AM ^
He said "and the kids loved him," not "because the kids loved him."

I don't understand why we're going after an NFL running backs coach who hasn't proven to actually make RB's better when we have Mike Hart 2 hours away. He turned a freshman RB into an absolute monster at WMU. Not only that but he has established relationships with coaches in the area. Stupid IMO.
January 6th, 2015 at 9:13 AM ^
It's probably because Mike Hart said he wished Harbaugh "Never went to Michigan" and called him "Not a Michigan Man." They probably do not like each other very much.
January 6th, 2015 at 9:25 AM ^
If Lloyd and Harbaugh are cool, I'm sure the Hart feud can be forgiven by both guys.
January 6th, 2015 at 9:17 AM ^
Not to mention the possible interactions between Hart and Dantonio if this were to happen. Right off the bat, send those two cats out to the yard!
January 6th, 2015 at 10:37 AM ^
... is for Harbaugh to give Dantonio the Schwartz-slap.
January 6th, 2015 at 11:41 AM ^
Oh the glory! After beating Staee this Fall, the Schwartz-slap follows a midfield handshake with Harbaugh uttering, "I hope you've enjoyed yourself the last 7 years!"
January 6th, 2015 at 9:25 AM ^
And the freshman from WMU should thank the O-Line and his creator because he would have ran for that many yards regardless of who his coach was. On the flip side, Wheatly had Spiller and JAckson to work with, not exactly the "horses" you want to inherit.
Even the best coach can look bad if he doesnt have good players, and vice versa....
