RUMOR: Speight dinged up
November 13th, 2016 at 8:42 PM ^
no, but this really shows our true weakness. no depth. that's why a program can't be built in one or two years.
harbaugh is over achieving big time. all the walmart nutters around here need to nut the fuck up.

That's fine that you are all passionate about this non UofM alum topic , but now you just sound like a bitter troll by bringing it up in every topic randomly , and it's getting old
November 13th, 2016 at 9:27 PM ^
it's pertinent to any thread since the end of the game. all these wmu and cmu grads wanting to burn down the program. talking like they know more about football than jim fucking harbaugh. sick of it. this is OUR school.

But I agree, it's YOUR school. But the football program belongs to ALL of the fans.
BTW - Did I bump into you at Kinick? Or were you in that super elite "alum-only" section?
Bo from Ohio (not an alum) sends his regards. I think his exact words from beyond were "fuck off troll" !

Way to keep the "Arrogant Michigan Alum" stereotype alive single handedly.
November 13th, 2016 at 9:59 PM ^
That's where I know you from.
November 13th, 2016 at 10:58 PM ^
I went to UM....I run a technology fund and have probably made more money off one deal than you will ever make in your lifetime. I say this only to show you what kind of a small man you sound like.
Am I now better than you because of my profession / income, just as you believe yourself superior to the non UM alums? I mean, you are actually less of an alum because you haven't donated 1/1000th the amount of $ I have to the University - hence - you are less of a man/fan than I am?
You suck on so many levels. As I've said before, some of the best friends and colleagues I met in Ann Arbor were just local folks that worked, lived, or frequented the bars and games, and I learned more about Michign football and tradition from any of them than I would from a brat student.
Grow up - your school, your degree, the money you make in your life, your job, etc do not make you the man you are. How you treat others and how you respect people from the lowest to the highest positions and from all institutions determine the man you are.
Your comments here suggest you are either young or a piece of trash, the prior you can grow out of - the latter, no degree will save you from. I would watch games with any "Walmart Wolverine" any day over a pretentious little shit like you.
November 13th, 2016 at 11:14 PM ^
lol now that's rich! getting a lesson on virtue from someone making their living off fucking people over.

is fucking people over? Do you know what a tech fund is? Grow up child.
And this football team that you feel so much more entitled to being a fan of than "Walmart Wolverines" has been funded and will continue to be funded by large donors - I assume you think they are more entitled to be fans of this team than you?
November 14th, 2016 at 7:27 AM ^
Just gave you the only upvote I've ever given. Couldn't have captured my thinking on this issue any better. Well said.
November 13th, 2016 at 11:20 PM ^
You're the worst.
November 14th, 2016 at 2:14 PM ^
Is there any proof this douchbag even went to Michigan? Because he comes across exactly as Sparty's complaint of what Michigan fans sound like. Possible Sparty troll-plant?
November 13th, 2016 at 9:57 PM ^
And make the non-alums pay for it
November 13th, 2016 at 10:01 PM ^
Only to later realize that the wall is not a realistic option, so you build a chain link fence "with barbed wire" for extra securtiy!
November 13th, 2016 at 10:04 PM ^
Since it's YOUR school, how about you stop embarassing the Men's basketball program and have the place be a quarter full, even during important big ten games?
Since it's YOUR school, how about you consider that the Big House would be empty everywhere if it wasn't for non-alums like myself attending?
I'm a proud CMU alum and lifelong Michigan fan. It's fans like you that confirm what a lot of the nation thinks about Michigan as a whole.
Not a lot pisses me off. It takes a ton to get my dander up. But it's crap like that which really, truly gets under my skin.
November 14th, 2016 at 12:08 AM ^
I blame you alums on why the whole country hates Michigan and the refs keep screwing the team over year after year. Yep, all of your fault. It's you dipshit wanna be but never will be professional assholes that piss them off. Maybe get better at it and we'll see a change!! Go Blue!!
November 13th, 2016 at 8:56 PM ^
Can we make this guy Formerly an MgoBoard participant?
November 13th, 2016 at 9:19 PM ^
No depth? How much more depth can you have than a backup who started for a season and a half at a Divison 1 school? Most years our backup is going to be an underclassman who has never done anything but hand off the ball when we're leading by 40 points.
November 13th, 2016 at 9:23 PM ^
it was in regards to the thought of losing strib. we'd be down to our 4th or 5th corner, both true freshman. we shouldn't have true frosh' in the 2 deep unless it's a generational-type guy like peppers or gary

you do know that, right?

yeah, and neither is gary...

Lets do some math here. 85 scholarship players. For sake of argument, lets say in an average year there are 22 true freshman. So, 63 non-frosh scholarship players. And, there are 2 players not currently on scholarship that make the two deep. So 65 non-freshman players constitutes the entire pool for the two deep. With 22 positions, there are 44 players on the two-deep (actually might be more since you have multiple tight end packages... and presumably the notion is that no true freshman plays meaningful snaps). Can't expect to have more than 1 generational-type frosh in a given year. So, 43 two-deep players come from a pool of around 65 candidates.

this is a reasonably deep team. The back 7 could use to be deeper but it's not like it's panic mode when the back-ups are in
November 13th, 2016 at 8:33 PM ^
They showed Speight for a few seconds trotting off the field after the game and he definitely looked like he was holding his left arm in that "my shoulder is completely jacked" position. As such, rumors of a busted collarbone wouldn't surprise me in the least. Totally sucks, but that is football, and most teams have to deal with this at some point.
If it's true, well then, NEXT MAN UP! O'Korn's got some game, and seems to bring a bit different skill set. Hopefully, it will be a positive in disguise going forward. If JOK is starting on Saturday, at least it's at home and against Indiana.
Sorry to hear Speight may be hurt!
Gonna be interesting to say the least!
November 13th, 2016 at 8:34 PM ^
First - I hope the guy gets well soon.
Second - I was/am critical of his performance yesterday night. He was not on his game at all. However, when he is on, he is really fucking on. We need "Good Speight" against OSU and Indiana. I hope we get to see more of that guy this year. If the injury limtis him and means we only get "Not So Good Speight" then I am in favor of seeing what O'Korn brings. (This is based on the 0.0 minutes of practice I have seen since the Ford field thing.)
Lastly - This is not good.
November 13th, 2016 at 8:34 PM ^
Smash the shoulder into a wall and fix it?
November 13th, 2016 at 8:36 PM ^
Are you suggesting he is a Lethal Weapon?
/80's movie reference? Just me?
November 13th, 2016 at 8:40 PM ^
If Riggs can do it, no reason speight can't.

November 13th, 2016 at 8:41 PM ^
Dislocated collarbone. Riggs would dislocate it. Not break it and slam it into a wall to umbreak it.

November 13th, 2016 at 8:44 PM ^
So we can change the "broken" collarbone to "dislocated".
November 13th, 2016 at 8:46 PM ^
But seriously - how badass would that be?
November 13th, 2016 at 9:23 PM ^
Lethal Weapon was the first thing that popped in my head when I read that.
November 13th, 2016 at 8:53 PM ^
Or 5 minutes with Mr. Miyagi.
November 13th, 2016 at 8:39 PM ^
I'd bet O'Korn can run this offense pretty well. Get him in live action and give him some easy throws and settle him in. He'll be fine, especially if we could just committ to running the damn ball. Run the shit out of it, open up easy play action throws and we'll be good with any of the qbs.
November 13th, 2016 at 8:44 PM ^
We haven't been able to run the ball well on anyone with a defense. We have relied on Speight to be on his game to move the ball. Last night, he was off and we died.
November 13th, 2016 at 8:51 PM ^
Evans and Isaac combined for 9 carries for 59 yards (6.6 YPC) and a TD yesterday. Maybe they just needed more carries.
November 13th, 2016 at 9:06 PM ^
They seemed to really have something with Evans last night. Sometimes, a back just works in a given game and you need to feed him. I must have screamed "Feed Evans" at the TV a dozen times. I have no idea why they kept the rotation going.
November 13th, 2016 at 9:17 PM ^
Well it's because Smith runs hard. Running hard obviously means more than getting yards. Looks like Jim went to Frost school of football

What's especially unfortunate is that it happened on a night Iowa finally figured out that Wadley is legit and Daniels is shit, after they'd wasted most of the season giving Daniels half the carries.
Still, the OLine wasn't good. Lot of Smith runs had no chance.

Very few times, if any, have we really committed running the ball. We look like a pass first offense that uses a lot of gimmicky stuff. No identity, no bread and butter. Run and keep the best looking back in the game and go downhill.
November 13th, 2016 at 10:30 PM ^
in their playbook I wish they would have called him last night.
November 13th, 2016 at 8:40 PM ^
Season killer for the team unless OKorn shows us something.
November 13th, 2016 at 8:43 PM ^
He's obviously dinged up. I hope he gets better soon. We'll likely be okay if he's unable to start, though.
November 13th, 2016 at 8:43 PM ^
Also...at least O'Korn has live games under his belt so he shouldn't be bothered by anything and getting hit shouldn't bother him.
November 14th, 2016 at 11:57 AM ^
but in a part of the country where defense is something just not done anymore ....
