RUMOR: Speight dinged up

Submitted by poppinfresh on
Sam Webb hinting that Speight's shoulder is dinged up and we may see more of Okorn in non blowout time against Indiana. There are Twitter rumors (the account name not lending a ton of credence) that speight is dealing with a more severe shoulder injury, a broken collar bone. https://mobile.twitter.com/MichNasty86/status/797930097483231232 There are also rumors on Facebook similar to this Twitter account but hard to tell since Michigan doesn't release injury info and I didn't see speight in a sling last night. Again Webb not saying broken collar bone, but dinged up. Rumors more severe.

no, but this really shows our true weakness. no depth. that's why a program can't be built in one or two years.

harbaugh is over achieving big time. all the walmart nutters around here need to nut the fuck up.

But I agree, it's YOUR school. But the football program belongs to ALL of the fans.

BTW - Did I bump into you at Kinick? Or were you in that super elite "alum-only" section?

Bo from Ohio (not an alum) sends his regards. I think his exact words from beyond were "fuck off troll" !

I went to UM....I run a technology fund and have probably made more money off one deal than you will ever make in your lifetime. I say this only to show you what kind of a small man you sound like.

Am I now better than you because of my profession / income, just as you believe yourself superior to the non UM alums?  I mean, you are actually less of an alum because you haven't donated 1/1000th the amount of $ I have to the University - hence - you are less of a man/fan than I am?

You suck on so many levels.  As I've said before, some of the best friends and colleagues I met in Ann Arbor were just local folks that worked, lived, or frequented the bars and games, and I learned more about Michign football and tradition from any of them than I would from a brat student.

Grow up - your school, your degree, the money you make in your life, your job, etc do not make you the man you are.  How you treat others and how you respect people from the lowest to the highest positions and from all institutions determine the man you are.

Your comments here suggest you are either young or a piece of trash, the prior you can grow out of - the latter, no degree will save you from.  I would watch games with any "Walmart Wolverine" any day over a pretentious little shit like you.

is fucking people over? Do you know what a tech fund is? Grow up child.

And this football team that you feel so much more entitled to being a fan of than "Walmart Wolverines" has been funded and will continue to be funded by large donors - I assume you think they are more entitled to be fans of this team than you?

Since it's YOUR school, how about you stop embarassing the Men's basketball program and have the place be a quarter full, even during important big ten games?

Since it's YOUR school, how about you consider that the Big House would be empty everywhere if it wasn't for non-alums like myself attending?

I'm a proud CMU alum and lifelong Michigan fan. It's fans like you that confirm what a lot of the nation thinks about Michigan as a whole.

Not a lot pisses me off. It takes a ton to get my dander up. But it's crap like that which really, truly gets under my skin.

I blame you alums on why the whole country hates Michigan and the refs keep screwing the team over year after year. Yep, all of your fault. It's you dipshit wanna be but never will be professional assholes that piss them off. Maybe get better at it and we'll see a change!! Go Blue!!

No depth? How much more depth can you have than a backup who started for a season and a half at a Divison 1 school? Most years our backup is going to be an underclassman who has never done anything but hand off the ball when we're leading by 40 points.

Lets do some math here. 85 scholarship players. For sake of argument, lets say in an average year there are 22 true freshman. So, 63 non-frosh scholarship players. And, there are 2 players not currently on scholarship that make the two deep. So 65 non-freshman players constitutes the entire pool for the two deep. With 22 positions, there are 44 players on the two-deep (actually might be more since you have multiple tight end packages... and presumably the notion is that no true freshman plays meaningful snaps). Can't expect to have more than 1 generational-type frosh in a given year. So, 43 two-deep players come from a pool of around 65 candidates.

They showed Speight for a few seconds trotting off the field after the game and he definitely looked like he was holding his left arm in that "my shoulder is completely jacked" position.  As such, rumors of a busted collarbone wouldn't surprise me in the least.  Totally sucks, but that is football, and most teams have to deal with this at some point.

If it's true, well then, NEXT MAN UP!  O'Korn's got some game, and seems to bring a bit different skill set.  Hopefully, it will be a positive in disguise going forward.  If JOK is starting on Saturday, at least it's at home and against Indiana.

Sorry to hear Speight may be hurt!

Gonna be interesting to say the least!

First - I hope the guy gets well soon.

Second - I was/am critical of his performance yesterday night.  He was not on his game at all.  However, when he is on, he is really fucking on.  We need "Good Speight" against OSU and Indiana.  I hope we get to see more of that guy this year.   If the injury limtis him and means we only get "Not So Good Speight" then I am in favor of seeing what O'Korn brings.  (This is based on the 0.0 minutes of practice I have seen since the Ford field thing.)

Lastly - This is not good.

I'd bet O'Korn can run this offense pretty well. Get him in live action and give him some easy throws and settle him in. He'll be fine, especially if we could just committ to running the damn ball. Run the shit out of it, open up easy play action throws and we'll be good with any of the qbs.
