Gah, I heard an "irregardless" in there.

Luckily, coaches aren't expected to speak formal English all of the time. They are allowed to use colloquialisms as often as they like. I think the world would be pretty boring if everyone spoke formally all of the time.

Yeah, I know. Just a pet peeve.
At least we don't have that Les guy that pronounces "Arkansas" phonetically.

Irregardless is infrequently used--in grammatically acceptable fashion--in prose and poetry. Some dictionaries even deem it necessary that "irregardless" have its own entry.
To be sure, "irregardless" need not contradictorily mean "not regardless" just as "inflammable" need not (and certainly does not) mean "not flammable".

I heard Herbstreit say "intrical" last night. That has become popular in the last 10 - 15 yrs. I think it's a combination of intricate and integral. I've often wondered how these new words originate.

Is anyone else disturbed by the fact that our own Sports Information Director doesn't know that Notre Dame is well behind Michigan in all-time wins?

Yes, I think he got mixed up. It's the winning % leader that would fluctuate between ND and Michigan, but at some point (I think after 2003) we took it over. We're still in 1st despite last season, but it's a lot closer again.
