Luckily, coaches aren't expected to speak formal English all of the time. They are allowed to use colloquialisms as often as they like. I think the world would be pretty boring if everyone spoke formally all of the time.

Irregardless is infrequently used--in grammatically acceptable fashion--in prose and poetry. Some dictionaries even deem it necessary that "irregardless" have its own entry. To be sure, "irregardless" need not contradictorily mean "not regardless" just as "inflammable" need not (and certainly does not) mean "not flammable".

Is anyone else disturbed by the fact that our own Sports Information Director doesn't know that Notre Dame is well behind Michigan in all-time wins? (Around the 3:00 mark of the Fields of Glory)
