V. Smith looked pretty good, but someone needs to duct tape him and D Rob to the goal posts and cut their hair. It drives me crazy to see players with hair sticking out the back of their helmets.

Actually, I am. I am way to young to be complaining about kids these days and how they wear their hair, but it bugs me. I liked the clips, though. It is too easy to cherry pick a few good plays to get a good read on what to expect this year, but some of the young guys look quick and Roh definately looked like he belongs.

It's not going to make you feel any younger, but when I read the bit about the hair and saw "UMdad," a laundry list of things that my dad does popped into my head, and Fernando Rodney's hat was at the top.

Add to that list:

- Taking a three-point shot in basketball EVER, even if it's a wide open-shot (yeah, watching UM basketball games with him this year was fun).

- Having a first name that is either longer than two syllables or incapable of being abbreviated as such (IE: "What the hell kind of name is 'Martavious'? Whatever happened to 'John' or 'Mike'?")

Plenty new in this video!

RR confirms that Roh is almost certainly going to contribute this year, at least as a pass rusher. Cissoko is having a good camp, etc.

I'm excited to see DEATH ROH out on the field in crab stance, whirling dervish, destroy-quarterback mode.

Yeah, Tate has got to learn to get rid of the ball. As a true freshman, there will be plenty of times he'll want to make a play when it would be better to just throw the ball away. The safety in the spring game is a good example. He'll learn, but it'll take time. Expect to see several plays a game where QBs will hold onto ball too long and take a sack.

The dude is just plain talkin' and folksy. Nothing wrong with that. I love that he both has a Twitter account (page? site? I'm old...) and freely admits that he doesn't update it. I'm sure no coach does (Brewster the possible exception), but I love that he's so open about it.

On the other hand, Carty looked into RR's soul and didn't like what was there, so...

Yes true, Denard is fast. But let's not get carried away here. 1 second in a 100 meter sprint, especially as times get faster and faster, is a tremendous difference.

The fact that Denard is so fast and still almost a second slower than Bolt should show you how incredible Bolt is though :)

Some clarification on the whole UCONN thing:

-We tried to get a BCS to come here without a return, it didn't work.

-We tried to get a 'high quality 1A' to come here without a return, it didn't work.

-We then tried to offer to do a home and home and couldn't find anyone but UCONN.

It seems clear the AD isn't any happier about UCONN than we are, as they tried lots of other things first. I still wonder why the Boise State thing didn't work out.

Either way, I totally agree it's crazy some people don't appreciate RR's candid approach to the media.

regarding RR's candidness with the media. Compare his honesty with the Vikings' coach, owner and GM, as well as Favre, in lying to the Vikings fanbase over the past three weeks about Favre showing up (they've repeatedly said on Twin Cities radio, until today, that Favre would not be on the team). I prefer Rich Rod.

I like the way Vincent Smith looks. He has the ability to avoid tackles just like Hart and has a little more speed in the open field. I loved watching Mike Hart but it was painful watching defenders catch up to him in the secondary. I think that Smith will get a decent amount of reps this year behind Minor and Brown, as long as both remain healthy. If not, he could end up as the starter over Grady.

Oh I like Shaw too, I am just really excited by the way Smith looks so far. He has the potential to be really good for us especially after we lose our senior depth at Rb. I think Shaw will most likely have an impact at Rb too if given a decent amount of carries this year behind the seniors.

... this is the best video posted within the past week. Some takeaway points:
- Mike Martin is strong strong.
- Holy shit Craig Roh is fast around the corner.
- I love Tate, but Denard might actually challenge for the starting job. I didn't expect this, but wow. He is slippery as advertised, but just as important, he appears to be an adequate to good passer.

I think DRob might challenge for the starting job, but probably not in week 1. Tate has too much of a head start learning the playbook. Somewhere around mid-season maybe? I know one thing for sure... DRob will play this season, maybe just for running plays at first, but he'll play.

I can hardly friggin wait to see Denard run wild against the Spartans. I hope RR and the coaches come up with a few good trick plays designed just for MSU - and wait until the MSU game to unleash.

Dantonio's minions of PR have clearly worked on you.

I always used to think "man we better have something sweet to bust out against OSU," but alas, even the Mgoboarders have upped the MSU rivalry to the point that i hear more about it than about OSU.

Not to pick you out specifically, but your comment triggered the thought.

I don't think my dislike for the Spartans has as much to do with Dantonio as it does with Spartan fans in general. I'm just tired of all the talk coming from Spartan fans after they beat us once in what seems like forever. We just need to give MSU a reality check so they know exactly where this rivalry still stands.

Oh, and don't worry, I still dislike OSU - very much so. It's just that the MSU game comes first on the schedule, that's why I mentioned the whole MSU/Denard running wild see if you can catch me thing.

The problem that Robinson will have in claiming the starting job will not be his speed or throwing skills, but his understanding of the offence. In the first presser put out by Central Propaganda Coach Rodrigues made mention that he was pleased that both Sheridan and Forcier were a place that they did not need to be told they made a mistake, they knew that they had made one and more importantly what the mistake was and why they made it. Robinson still has to be told the mistakes he is making and why they are mistakes. Until that changes, he will not be the starting QB. For now he is still 3rd on the depth chart.
