RR and staff must know something we don't.

Considering that we don't have many spots left, one according to most people you talk to, I have to believe the coaching staff has to have a plan or knows something we don't about the current recruits. You figure the people still considering Parker, Dorsey, Knight and then we have Black and Wilson coming in the weekend, and then we have unexpected commits such as Ryan and Williamson that were not really on anybody's radar. Taking all that and considering RR always pulls in a surprise or two on signing day what is going on? You would think we would be slowing down with the lack of spots but we continue to go strong. Am I alone in thinking that something has to be up? Maybe they know recruits aren't leaning toward Michigan, or maybe some are about to decommit? Does anyone have any better guesses or inside information?

Rodriguez and his staff know more than we do? No shit. Regardless, the coaches are continuing to recruit. We can take more than 26; Rodriguez just said that he figured it would end up at 26. I get the feeling that if Parker were to commit, it might turn off Dorsey or vice versa. Knight might fall under that category, too, although he's supposed to play a different position. (BTW, I don't think Dorsey is coming, anyway.) The Other Brian says Wilson isn't coming this weekend, and he's usually right about that kind of stuff. Regardless, there are always surprises at the end. Kinard might not qualify. Florida's coming after Avery, which might not scare others, but considering how Rodriguez got burned last year, he's probably continuing to recruit hard. I would not be surprised to see another of our commits disappear, too - not because of inside info, but because that always seems to happen when it comes down to the wire.

that I believe RR's direct quote was "we can sign 26." Now I suppose that could be interpreted in the way you suggest, but to me it sounds like that 26 is the number. I think the answer to all the recruiting is simple--as he's said many times, you recruit everyone right up through signing day, and you can never be 100% certain of any of our current recruits signing until they actually do.

one of the guys over at Rivals says that after the staff had their various discussions with fifth years and walk-ons, the returning number of scholarship players is 59. That's why they can only sign 26. Is it possible to make room for more? I'm sure they'd find a way for the right people, but as of right now they are saying there are 59 returning.

I still can't believe they put that on their jerseys. Also, I think what you meant is that Wilson is firmly committed to Charlie Strong. No way he even considers them if AgroKrag is still running Louisville into the ground. I'm real glad that someone finally removed their head from their ass and gave Strong a HC job.

Tim never said that a mod docked him points, Tim just said "the OP is being docked points." I took that to mean that the OP was being docked points by all of us. Tim did not say "I docked the OP points."

I was looking at the voting details and one user name has three votes... how does that happen (not that I have a problem with it.)

It's the time of year for recruiting mania, he wasn't clamoring for RR's head if we don't end up with 20 5-stars, and was asking a general albeit "lite" question. It hasn't led to huge amounts of new information being generated, but I know now that there are 59 scholarships returning, and that's a number I hadn't bothered to total up myself. So for me, the thread is far from a waste of time. On the other hand, I don't really care about Conan and NBC, The Office, pet peeves, steroids and Big Mac, or California wine country. I have no problem with people posting about those topics, but docking the OP here on his fairly innocuous recruiting question seems a bit weird by comparison.

If this OP was docked points but the "OT Venus Williams" OP wasn't, then I think the mods here are using a BIT too much control.

The Talbott bros visiting UNC concerns me... The DT Talbott is the closest thing we had to a true nose tackle in this class. The CB Talbott is the third best corner in this class, but we are in serious need of depth there, and Florida is going after Avery, hard. If the staff doesn't think the DT Talbott is ever going to be able to play NT, then it's not a big loss, especially if we replace him with Black. If we can hold on to Avery, then the CB Talbott wouldn't be a huge loss either, especially if we are able to get both Parker and Knight. Right now, we're at 26. If we lose Drake, 25. If we lose the Talbott's, 23. If we get Black, Parker, and Knight, then we're right back to 26. Makes sense to me. Maybe that is what Rich Rod and staff "knows" that we don't.
