Role of Chris Singletary

Submitted by you little jerk on
Let's for a brief moment assume that U of M ends this year's recruiting soap opera with two new signees (Shoelaces and WITTY). What role does Chris play in helping or hurting Michigan recruiting if any? While I realize the coaches are the main people who get face and voice time with recruits, does Chris play such a role that RR would find himself wanting to get a new recruiting coordinator? Anyone with any insight on this please chime in though I am going to assume most are probably as clueless as I am on this issue. Photobucket

his recruiting coordinator was the reason they went 3-9. Its not like we're targeting all the wrong guys, wasting our time when we were never really being considered. It just appears that we're struggling to close. and that probably has to do with our 3-9 season, the fact that our offense looked like hell, we've got mostly inexperienced freshman and sophomores coming back and the light at the end of the tunnel looks farther away than it did one year ago. I don't think getting a new recruiting coordinator changes any of that.

The recruiting coordinator is not necessarily responsible for recruiting the kids to the school. He mostly arranges trips, gathers contact information for players and recruits, puts together schedules, figures out who will host whom, where the players and parents will stay, answers questions about academic programs, provides tours, etc. The coaches are the ones who talk up the school/program; the recruiting coordinator is the one who makes all that stuff possible.
