RIP Coach Bob Elliott, Son of Bump Elliott
Long time football coach Bob Elliott, son of Bump Elliott, has passed away. He coached with several teams over his career, including Iowa, Iowa State, Kansas State, ND, and most recently Nebraska. Elliott has battled health issues for several years and passed away last night at age 64.
Edit: Here's another link with even more details about his life and death.
He is survived by his wife, children, brother, sister, and father.
Nebraska can't catch a break in the cruelest way. First Sam Foltz, now an assistant coach
I had heard that he had battled various issues for quite some time (going back to the 1990s, as I recall), but very bummed to hear that he has passed. The Elliott name is part of Michigan history, and thoughts are with his family during this time.
That's very sad and untimely. Amazing that Bump is still with us.
Which he published at Go Iowa Awesome, the site that he and a number of the old BHGP crew started last year.
Can we all please dispense with the "thoughts and prayers are with the family during this difficult time" semantics? Unless you're writing a press release or tweet for some organization or on behalf of someone of notoriety, you shouldn't use it.
It just sounds lazy and meaningless when a message board poster uses it.
