That's somewhat surprising - seeing as how he's from Florida. I figured he'd try to get back in the south somewhere at a place like FIU or USF. Hope he has a great season.

It's likely the Michigan coaches that are helping these players land at these schools, and with those schools being local, it makes sense that that's where they'd send them.

Typically, the schools that reach out for these types of transfers (unheralded ones) are going to be the ones that recruited you in the first place, or where your current coaches can help you out. Otherwise, you're leaning back on your high school coaches possibly, and their connections up wouldn't be as solid, particularly for an unheralded player. It will come from the college coaching staff vouching for a player in that case. My guess is that Hoke and co have connections to WMU through a variety of paths and helped Ash land this opportunity.

Go Broncos! They are giving us reason to get our hopes up in Kalamazoo!

(Yes I know that they went 1-11 last year and the row the boat analogy is stupid)

oar selection guidelines
WOOD SELECTION

Spruce Oars
The best all-around oars for most all boats. Very light, yet its strength to weight ratio makes it dependable for all but the heaviest pulling boats. Our Eastern Red spruce oars are made from the finest clear stock available. If you row for pleasure or exercise, these are the oars to use.
Ash Oars
We recommend Ash oars for very heavy boats or extremely hard usage, such as drift boating, racing, or commercial applications. While not as heavy as most ash oars that are commercially available, they are quite a bit heavier than spruce, and thereby less pleasant to use.

Congrats to Ash. He grabbed his Michigan degree a couple of weeks ago and now he gets to keep playing the sport he loves for at least one more season. Life could be worse.

As I recall, the initial announcement that Ash was leaving the program came a few months ago around the same time Furman left, but it had not yet been decided where he would go.

I believe he is one of our many esteemed Pahokee natives of recent vintage as well, so he will always have that going for him. Nice to see that he's found a place to play out his eligibility and best of luck to him.

The kid will be able get some solid minutes there...I think he's always had some guys just a notch above him at Michigan. I see him as an instant impact player at WMU.
