Rich Rod knows what he's doing

I'm confident he knows where he wants the players and the fans to go...He wants to get them more pumped up. "We want to make the Big House the most electric atmosphere in the nation. We're obviously gonna keep the band involved, and we're gonna try and play a little music, do a few new things with the scoreboard and stuff like that." -Rich Rodriguez Some music sounds good to me, but hopefully not as often as basketball and hockey arenas do it. The marching band has been playing rock songs from Queen, Metallica, and AC/DC and they just don't sound very good. They should stick to playing mostly the school songs. I like when they play Ironman though. There has been more music playing at Crisler since Belien got here, and I also like the way they introduce the players by turning off the lights and using spotlights. There seems to be more atmosphere there now. I think Rich Rod can do the same for the Big House. They had that "I play for Michigan, I coach for Michigan" video last year on the scoreboard, which was ok. The "More Cowbell" video was kind of lame though. Hopefully they come up with some better ones. But they better not try to do stupid stuff like Iowa, MSU, and Penn St. do with those dumb animations. I just hope they get rid of the key play signs, and get some "MAKE NOISE" or "GET LOUD" signs. It certainly couldn't hurt. He also wants to make the spring game more popular. Sounds good to me. It was never much of a big deal for Carr. It could be a really fun event every year. Theres also that night game thing...

I really wish you would have brought this to my attention once or twice in the past few weeks.

I'm not one for obsessing over traditions, but please no piped-in music. I've always found it kind of cheesy and sterile at ANY level (for instance- I greatly prefer the SunMessengers, regardless of what they are playing, at Pistons games over any commercial crap). Furthermore, call me crazy, but I've never seen any correlation between piped-in music and energy/"electricity" among fans. Maybe you get them excited for a couple minutes while a song is playing (like with Kernkraft 400 at PSU), but I don't see how that improves the atmosphere across the entire game. When the team improves, maybe people will get excited about the product on the field rather than some crappy rawk music? Agree with you on not imitating MSU. And on having the occasional night game...

....as long as they consider maize road jerseys in their top 5 while entering Michigan Stadium to "Cyanide" during the nighttime spring game without punctuation.

True. Death Magnetic is pretty good. Much better than St. Anger. It's got a few good songs. Really good songs actually. But nothing can compare to their stuff from the 80s and early 90s.
