Rich Rod and Dual threat QB's...

Submitted by GoBlue00 on
As Rich Rod has been a coach, hes been pretty successful (as we all know). But, if all you havn't noticed, his only losing seasons are when he doesnt have a dual threat qb. 3-8 season at WVU, and 3-9 at mich(both first seasons). When hes had a dual threat qb, he hasnt lost more than 8 games in a season. He has no more than 2 losses in every year for the conference, with a dual threat qb. His 6 years at WVU with a dual threat qb his record is 57-18(76% winning) And as we all know, Lloyd carrs types of players and RR's type of players differ. It'll take a full 4-5 years before RR gets every single player he recruited on his team. How did he fair when he did that at WVU? Record(in 3 years): 32-5(91.4%) And the bad part we all witnessed, with pro style qbs.. Record: 6-17 (26% winning) I know all of this stuff is things we already knew, but when you see the numbers its different. The facts tell it all, with a dual-threat qb, RR is the godfather of the spread offense because you can open up the playbook so much more. Yes our o-line isnt too good, but athletic wise and outta highschool ranks, we were better than WVU. Different schemes, but...

I like his attitude and everything he is saying....but, based on film and his ESPN2 event, beaver looked to me like a better athlete... I like Boyd though if we can somehow snag him.

and he plays QB and WR and when he is QB, he throws like 40% of the time (including dinky passes). I don't really see Forcier as a Pat White/ TP type guy (meaning run first, and if there is pressure, take off).

Pryor isn't a very polished passer right now. That's why they run him so much. I think as he becomes more accurate and learns the game, you'll see less option/designed runs and more of a passing spread. In my opinion, Boyd is more talented as a passer and less talented of an athlete than Pryor. He's still athletic enough to run the spread option, but I can see why he would want to go to a more pro-style offense - it fits him better and it might get him to the next level.

The spread option is obviously key, but I would be happy with some Troy Smith style mobility in the passing game, too. Hopefully he can keep plays alive instead of tucking the ball and just getting crushed. The gamble there is the tendency to develop "happy feet".

No kidding! Really? RR has done better with players that fit his system? I'm sorry, I mean he has "faired" better? In those years with a dual threat QB he hasn't lost more than 8 games? WOW! I hope he can avoid losing more than that with Tate next year! Jeez I hope you aren't a Michigan grad.

I can only take so much and I can't take no more. But maybe I am just tired and need to stop reading the tripe being posted tonight. This post I should have and normally would have just ignored, but really, did this guy just have this amazing revelation? I guess I should be more forgiving but ... oh hell. G'night.

If you're going to bash a guy's grammar, then perhaps you shouldn't follow it up with a post that says "I can't take no more." I realize that statement probably wasn't 100% serious, but you didn't exactly set the bar very high for intelligent discourse. Anyway, if a guy makes a stupid/incorrect/illogical statement, feel free to prove him wrong. If a guy makes a completely rational/correct/logical statement that you don't like simply because you've heard it before, maybe you should hit the BACK button and find another post to attack.

Yes, sorry. I was rather irritable last night. Of course "I can't take no more" is quoted from some movie I saw sometime. I can't remember which. Still, I actually went easy on the grammar. The mixed up punctuation and terrible grammar in general grates at me. It makes the post look like a text message. Also the post was obvious but didn't require such venom from me.

Get a life man. Why would you rip on dude for an insightful post? I have seen that argument 10 times on this blog over the last year and it was refreshing to see it explained that way. Next time you rip someone, don't link an organization that does good things. You make it look bad.

Refreshing how exactly? The post rehashed what any follower of this blog or Michigan football in general has read and heard so many times over that it is complete retread. There was no new explanation that I saw, and I went back to look and make sure, so you must have been living under a rock for a while. Now I am obviously too ornery to keep posting tonight (probably from a nasty dose of buckeye football watching) so I will bid this thread adieu.

You have a point but what if there are new users tonight who have not seen that post or something like it before. It would be quite interesting to them. I'm just sayin. And what if this guy was a new poster? It is not easy to come with a post sometimes and the last thing this blog needs is people poking fun. I do hear yah on the grump thing, we have all been there. S'all good. As for the Bucknuts, the wheels are coming off and it is a thing of beauty.

Lordfoul your an idiot. Some people check these blogs everu few weeks, every few months. Not everyone is as cool as you checking blogs every 5 minutes. Theres tons of new people reading these things each and everyday. I'm sorry if you posted this same forum 7 months, 14 days, 3 hours and 14 minutes ago. Chances are your post is only up for the next few days and thats it. What about the last 7 months and 11 days? Noones seen it. Noone posts this kind of stuff every other day. Get a grip, and get ur negative ass out of here. At another board, someone posted beaver committed a week after. Get the picture dip shit?
