the need to be the first to break news is ridiculous, seems like 60% of the time the report is just flat out wrong. reporting on nothing just to get the website views/clicks/shares/retweets/blog posts. and then when people post the offical story everybody is like, OMG this is soooo five minutes ago nice repost brah the search bar is over there --->

...but there's only a 10% chance that 50% of statistics are fabricated. If we charted the problem on a Pareto, we would find that 80% of the problems arise from 20% of what ESPN flashes on the screen in the vain hope of providing insight. Also, it is quite evident that 4/3rds of people have trouble with fractions.

Although I tend to agree, it's the news outlets job to report what they know.  If the kids wouldn't allow them to know anything, then their announcement wouldn't be ruined.  For example, GRIII could have made his announcement, and then signed with an agent (our found an agent to sign with) and his announcement wouldn't have been ruined.

The problem with them reporting what they "know" is that most of the time they don't actually know it and it turns out to be untrue. Why would GRIII announce first? Wouldn't you want to make your decisions and take care of the business that actually matters before worrying about whether the media is aware of your intentions or not?

For you kids..here's my "cool story bro"..I played against Roy Marble back in 85". Talk about a freakin unbelievable athlete. Wow. I was a 6'2 "power forward" who had the fun of trying to guard a guy that was not only bigger, stronger, faster, but after they killed us.. (flint Ainsworth) 102-56, him an I shook hands and his exact words were "how was that ass whoopin?"...where does that fit in this thread? It don't. Just my ass beating to a great athlete.

Nice!  On the flip side, when a couple guys got kicked off of the Michigan hockey team a few years back they skated in our league at the Cube.  I robbed one of them (the name escapes me right now) on a breakaway with a reaching back glove save, which was my nice highlight sticking out amongst the 5 or 6 goals he scored.

How much influence does GRIII's dad have in getting his son drafted? I'm guessing the Big Dog could make some calls and lobby on his sons' behalf. Could help raise GRIII's draft stock. What say you?

I think Trey and Tim's rookie performances could be more helpful. If NBA front offices were worried that Beilein's wizardry made Burke or Hardaway look much better than they actually are, they can probably put that concern to rest. It seems that Beilein's wizardry just helped those guys turn into much better basketball players (with the assistants' help, of course).

Burke was obviously much more productive than just about everyone else who plays college basketball.  I actually don't think there was much separation between Hardaway and Robinson's output -- it just always felt with Robinson like he could/should be doing a lot more than he was.

Here are the stat lines from their final seasons at Michigan:

Robinson- 13.1 ppg/.532 eFG%, 4.4 rpg, 1.2 apg, .9 spg
Hardaway- 14.5 ppg/.516 eFG%, 4.7 rpg, 2.4 apg, .7 spg

And career (2 years for Robinson, 3 for Hardaway):

Robinson- 12 ppg/.567 eFG%, 4.9 rpg, 1.1 apg, 1 spg
Hardaway- 14.3 ppg/.507 eFG%, 4.1 rpg, 2.1 apg, .7 spg

I think it's possible that Robinson's game will translate better to the NBA than it did here, but I'm also not sure what to expect.  He seemed reluctant at times (though not late in the season), and it's hard to suddenly see him being assertive with grown-ass men around.

but they may be influenced by a formed NBA player. Big Dog may have more access to have those conversations with NBA executives. View my question from the standpoint: "It's not what you know, it's who you know".

A good friend of mine is very close to Josh Bartelstein.  Bartelstein told him that Mcgary as of right now is likely going to the NBA, but Bartelstein is trying to talk him out of it. I saw the text messages myself and I am very confident Bartelstein was being legit.  Being a journalism major, I wouldn't post anything on here if it was erroneous.

Not being selfish but I think he needs another year. Nik is likely going but is the most ready of the 3. Mitch needs another year for development sake/show he's healthy but could/would understand if he went due to injury concerns. GR3 is the least NBA ready of the 3 and by a large margin, IMO. I always thought he'd be a 3 year guy and this year didn't change that notion like Nik did. He proved he could stay and get a bit better or go. Robinson is just not ready and not in the way many thought Hardaway wasn't. Robinson is little more than an athlete right now who is prone to disappearing for stretches of games, let alone minutes of a single game. When on he is a good player but he needs another year to show he can lead a team and show up every day. Again, Mitch is basically a different issue due to his back. If Robinson goes, I think all 3 are gone when I truly thought we'd only lose Nik.

I never said that McGary was going pro.  All I did was report what Bartelstein factually said via text message. Take it for what it's worth and if you don't consider it to be of any relevant significance, disregard it and move on bro.

Bartelstein didn't text your imaginary friend. If you were a real journalism major, you would know that anonymous sources are a huge faux pas. Hedging your position makes nothing you wrote verifiable, and putting it in your first post in 7 months lends you little credibility.
