that the thing has political and racial nuances (see connections between guy pushing it and major political figures).

Without going there I'll still bet that, as with so many showbiz ideas in our time, this gets designed to make some up-front money for those pushing it and goes el-foldo fast.

Will say "i'll watch" and will watch one game and realize it's garbage football. There is a reason this league failed nearly 20 years ago, and will continue to fail.

Sometimes I'll see AFL or CFL football on TV and I'm look "Oo cool. More football to watch" then you turn it on and realize it looks like mid-level FBS football minus the big crowds, the fanfare, the tradtion, etc. To survive, I'd bet they need it to be a spring/summer league. Going head to head with college and the NFL would be foolish

I wish the arena league would come back.  It was something different but very entertaining.

Edit:  I guess it still exists.  I haven't seen or heard about it in years.

The first go around started less than a year after it was first announced.  Dumb.

It had stupid and uninteresting rule changes, like the injurious coin-toss replacement and the "no fair catches" rule.  Dumb.

It turned their cheerleaders and sideline reporters into strippers.  Dumb.

The season started less than a month after the Super Bowl and everyone needed a break from football.  Dumb.

A new league could work, but here's what they need to consider:

- Start the season later in the spring, preferrably right after college spring football.  People are hungry for more football at that point.

- Institute some REAL rule changes that actually change how the sport is played (ex: make more offensive players eligible to receive passes, make it 3 or 5 downs for a first down, no punting, etc.)

- Make players eligible to join the league immediately after high school

The original incarnation billed itself as an alternative to the NFL right out of the gate.  It should have first established itself as the best "other" league and gone after the Arena League and Canadian interest.  So, yeah.  Put the Hosers outs of business first.

I do like the idea of making it open to players right out of high school.

And I think 3 downs to get 10 yards or even how about 4 downs to get 15 or 20 yards would be a great way to incentivize passing and reduce the impact felt by linement and linebackers in the running game.

they could have a Lingere football game. I went to one of those games once and I have to admit it was pretty entertaining. Beside the good looking women playing, they really got after it and took it very serious tryinig to win. There was some big hits in the game. I was kind of surprised at how serious the players took it.
