Howard Stern isn't known as the biggest sports fan, so it will be interesting to see where he takes this discussion.  I suspect Jon Hein may get to ask a couple of fanboy questions as the resident Michigan alum.

I have to imagine a lot of people dislike Stern.  I get it.  The show can seem a little (or incredibly) immature at times.  But despite what you think of the show as a whole his interviews are really unique and really good.  I'm sure if you can't get past the parts of him that you don't enjoy you really aren't waiting around to hear him interview guests.

Not sure why this is getting downvoted.  I don't listen to him much anymore but I always felt he was extremely prepared for his interviews and had an ability to make guests comfortable and open up.  The questions Stern asked never seem to get asked in other interviews.  I think he's pretty gifted in that aspect of his job and his interviews are always really intriguing.

Howard is a great interviewer. The trouble is you never really know when the interviews are about to begin, so you can sometimes listen to two hours of them all needling those stupid fucking Whack Pack characters waiting for the interview to start. I also think Howard has lost a lot of his edginess and become shockingly mainstream in recent years. But whatever.

My point exactly... nothin' like announcing to the world that you're a "fanboy". Stern just made "shock & awe" popular on the radio...he's not the "best interviewer ever" lmao Though I do understand the draw... if I were 15yrs old again, hormones raging, and a virgin, I'd definitely look up to a Big Hair Band type guy who spends half his show talking about sex, has porn stars on the show, in a Jerry Springer sorta way. He's a social deviant, that's why some of you like him, you envy his freedom.

Hell, I'd put Jeremy Clarkson above Stern any day, Clarkson has an edge to him (that's why he got kicked off BBC) but at least Clarkson can express himself without acting like an adolescent douche', and Clarkson knows a at least a little bit about cars/engineering, whereas Stern couldn't find middle-C on a keyboard if his life depended on it, nor is he any sort of recording artist, that's why he has someone else run the sound board for him.

Is Barbara really a great interviewer? Her questions are scripted ,thus the notes she always reading and looking thru (shuffle shuffle, ah heres a good one)

Howard will ask any random question ,he doesnt care .Like "Hey Tom.who do you think about while having sex with a Super Model"?

I dont know who the best interviewer is.but im guessing its someone that is in the moment asking questions, not some made up questions (and answers)

Seeing as it is 1998, I am really looking forward to hearing what antics Howard Stern will get up to.

Seriously, though, this is really exciting. If you count podcasts, there are only 40-50 radio personalities that have more listeners than this guy. THAT is rarefied air.

Spoiler alert: A good portion of the interview is at this website:

https://nesn.com/2020/04/tom-brady-on-howard-stern-live-recap-what-we-learned-from-qbs-interview/

This excerpt stood out to me:

9:25 a.m. — Brady, talking about the physical toll of playing football, admits he’s had head injuries over his career.

“I’ve definitely had concussions, yeah.”

However, Brady talked about how he’s not going to let other people tell him when to walk away from football.

“I could sit here and (say) stop playing football so I could worry about what’s going to happen or worry about this or that instead of saying why don’t I live my life the way that I want to and enjoy it? For me, it’s doing what I love to do. You don’t tell a musician to stop singing at age 42. You don’t tell a great painter, stop painting at 42. If you want to stop, stop, go ahead. But for me, because I feel like I can still play doesn’t mean I should just stop playing because that’s what everyone tells me I should do.”

Nobody tells musicians or painters to stop what they do at 42 because they're normally not sustaining concussions and repeated blows to the head.

A big reason why Brady is so good is his intense, almost maniacal devotion to his professional craft. That devotion may end up costing him his health in ways he apparently doesn't want to imagine. If that happens—God forbid—all his money and fame won't be much help.

Brady reminds me, in a small way, of Bear Bryant. The guy who wants to keep playing because he doesn't know what else he's going when he finally has to stop. Just like Bryant said he'd probably keel over and die after he stopped coaching, and he pretty much did. I think a few months after he retired.

Brady is not a TV personality like Peyton Manning, so I don't see him commentating, despite the fact that I'm sure there will be offers for him to do so. I don't know if he wants to or cares to coach at any level. Philanthropist? Maybe.

I'm sure he loves to play, and for all I know he's got his post-football life already completely lined up. But he's been doing this for so long that he may just be slightly afraid to move on from the game because he's never done anything else.

Now that he's out from Fort Belichick, we'll see if his approach to interacting with the media changes this season.  He might be more engaging with the fresh start.  The guy has plenty of charisma/energy/leadership and a chin from central casting ... if he decides to warm up, he could have a world of TV-related opportunities.

Age old conundrum...

If we're gonna analyze Brady, maybe we should go back to his college days. He was aloof and disinterested for a good portion of his career, then something snapped/caught fire. I'd be more inclined to believe that he's afraid of losing his sense of purpose and reverting back. One of the biggest motivators in life... is fear...

Interesting statement about UofM:

Talking about his time Michigan, Brady says “When you’re not “their guy,” there’s a different dynamic,” which, if we’re reading way in between the lines, might explain some of his thought processes when it came to leaving the Patriots.

I'm not sure if you listened to the interview, but he explained all this. There is no need to read between the lines. He explained when he came to Michigan, there was a coaching change, and he didn't feel he was the guy the new coaches wanted, and he said going into last season he knew it would be his last with the Pat's, because it was just time.

Did not hear the interview but saw some excerpts and one of the most interesting things was that Brady had to skip OTAs the last two years because it was straining his marriage. One person who does not dig his maniacal devotion to his job is Gisele! She basically told him to give her a break and watch the kids more because she wants to have a career too. Hey Tom ya know the best advice I could give you if Gisele is thinking of ditching is to fucking quit!
