Rematch with Bama

Submitted by MaizeRage89 on

Ok ay, so since we are only one game into the season and we only have 1 loss I am inclined to play the what if game....

Lets say Michigan wins out and only Bama is undefeated, do we deserve a rematch like Bama got against LSU? Better yet do we want to ever accept a rematch? Obviously yes if its for the MNC.

If we did get a rematch I would have to believe that our chances would have to greatly increase of us winning.

I dunno I'm bored and thought this would add some good debate and its not impossible for this scenario to happen.

Well lets start by beating AF this weekend!!!!

*edit* What... too soon....too soon???

Sooooo I guess my 2 post ever was a complete failure. But hey sometimes you gotta learn the hard way! Maybe I should just start a Friday night drinking thread next time.

Alabama is an NFL farm system. Every one of their starters has a future in an NFL uniform. I don't think that it would be too much of a stretch either to say that Bama could at least hang around with some of the lower-tier NFL teams, like Cleveland or Jacksonville. Don't think they'd win, but they'd give some teams a run for their money.

#1 - who's to day they will be in the NC game and undefeated at that time? You've seen them play only 1 game so far this year.

#2 even if we went undefeated the rest of the year, there will almost certainly be better teas than us at that point in the year. You seen our talent level, its just not there. Even if we finished out 11-1 we would still not be in te top 3 teams most likely, but it most likely won't happen anyway so.

I believe there was one thread in late July involving a misleading Laquon Treadwell thread title which led into a joke that received over 300 downvotes, although I am not 100% if that's the all-time record since they began using karma rather than points per se. I don't know if the OP of that one has posted since actually...

This thread reminds me of the "If Michigan beats Alabama will we owe it to RR recruiting?"debacle from last week.

New thread: If Michigan gets a rematch with Alabama, and we win, will we owe it to RR recruiting?" No speculation please. Intelligent, well reasoned answers only.

And Bert pulls out the butcher knife and starts hacking off pieces covering the white in the car with crimson splatters....

What, no one else thought it out this far too...?

(or to, if thread consistent)

Actually what would be more interesting is this:

Michigan goes 12-1 and wins the Big Ten.

Assuming Notre Dame, Michigan State, Ohio State and Nebraska and Wisconsin all have 8-9+ wins, that's a as good a 12-1 you could have in regards to losing that first game.

Alabama loses two games during the regular season, but still makes the SEC championship game, where they win.

There's only one other legitimate one loss team (let's say USC).

Would Michigan come out on top over Alabama?

Funny things happen over the course of a season though.

Remember when USC smashed Arkansas early in 2006, then late in the year Arkansas had just the one loss, McFadden was running riot and people were talking about them potentially going to the title game? (Of course they blew it agianst Tennessee, but the sentiment was there)

If Fitz has a big year, voters could find themselves saying "Well, it was early, they were breaking in new receivers, they didn't have their best running back...."

Definitely a possibility if it were to work out this way, but who knows.

We were the only 1 loss team and everyone else had 2 losses. That's about the only way I see it happening. They would not pick us over any other one loss teams. Pure and simple. So, yes, it's possible. But very unlikely.

this loss was nothing like the name and lsu game; that was a classic battle of defenses which came down to a field goal. it was like the#1 vs #2 Ohio and um game... we got ripped off on that one...( initially until both teams were embarrassed kind their bowls.)

if it were to happen, it would most likely be in another BCS game.  USC, OU, and FSU have schedules that are easy to win out. Bama takes a loss will be ranked below them, and if any other team wins the SEC, Bama gets an at large and could get matched up against the B1G champ.  Would I like to see it?  yes, i hardly doubt the same thing would happen again, and like Mattison said, 13 offensive points after the first quarter...could easily be different.
