Reimbursement of Tickets?

Submitted by Lancer on

During the annoucements letting the fans that the game will be "suspended" saturday at the Big House, the commentator told the fans that they could get their tickets reimbursed. He said it again after the second delay too. I was skeptical, no way they would lose all that money with 3 quarters of the game already played. Anyone know what he meant or hear anything about it?

First game at the Big House, I had a blast. Crazy seeing so many people in one place. The rain actaully made the atmosphere so much more fun IMO.

And I believe you misinterpreted what the PA announcer said 'you can Re-Enter' the stadium with your ticket stub if you leave the premises during the rain delay. Not get 'Reimbursed'. Sorry, that's never going to happen.

Yeah, the PA announcer said you should hang on to your tickets for reentry onto the field.  At the time of the first rain delay, my wife and I were watching some people head out down the stairs into the Crisler lot.  We asked whether they could get back in.  someone told us that is was unclear what rules would apply.

I think when they really got concerned about safety, they wanted to assure people that they could leave for their cars and still get back in if the game resumed.

I was at the very first weather (lightning) delay a few years ago.  They let people out of the stadium and back in (w/ a stub) during/after that delay as well.  I think the idea was that they could get in their cars for safety reasons.

Most stayed in the stands, however -I don't remember it raining as bad as I saw it on TV during the Western game.

just as hard for the Central game too.  It only lasted maybe 15 minutes and the sun came out and dried everything up real nice.

For Western, the AD really learned something about evacuation as it went very smooth compared to CMU game.

I left the stands before they called it as I was looking at my Blackberry.  As an novice meterologist, I knew we were going to be hit so we went and got a water and watched the gaem from the section tunnel.  Then the rain came.

Great job AD for getting people out quickly.

While looking at that picture of Kovacs I can hear Chris Spielman describe proper tackling techniques.  Keep your head up -check, hit him in the center of his body - check, wrap your arms - check, drive with your feet - check.

I went to a George Carlin show right a year before he passed, he couldn't finish the show.  A couple of days later i saw I'd been refunded for the show.  He finished about 75% of his set, plus i saw a few other comedians.  That was a crazy surprise.

By that logic though, couldn't they come around and collect a surcharge on any game that went into OT?  The ticket entitles you to see a game (as in something that ends in a win, loss or tie).  Not X minutes of a game. If you argue "a ticket means 60 minutes of play", the minute we go to 61, Brandon can tax your wallet.  On Saturday I saw a game according to the record books.

I don't think you should have to pay more for overtime, extra innings, etc. because that is still a part of the game that you paid for. You expect to see 4 quarters or 9 innings, anything extra is free. Like an encore at a concert. If the game goes less than the scheduled amount of time a refund makes sense but would admittedly be pretty rare.

The weather watch begins:

Saturday
partlysunny Partly sunny. Highs 76 to 80.
Saturday Night
nt_partlycloudy Partly cloudy. Lows 56 to 60.

Looking like nice weather for the pummeling of ND.

If - as legend has it - an old law student could sue the school to reimburse his tuition by 1/120 of the semester for calling a snow day, someone among the 110,506 present will probably ask this question of the AD.
