Red and Black Winged Helmets
If you flip over to Versus - Princeton v. Brown is on and they are rocking the Red/Black Winged Helmet. Also...since they still have NIKE as their sponsor their coaches gear is Red/Black but identical to our old stuff from two years ago..
I know the helmet started there before Fritz came to UofM, but it is weird to see the alternate colors...

Princeton wears orange, not red.

agreed that they normally do, but that helmet color looks quite red...

Princeton is orange and black.
FYI- You may or may not know that perhaps the most talented football player to ever play at Princeton was Hobey Baker, who was also good at that hockey stuff too.

Just making sure that you realize that Fritz himself started the helmet at Princeton and Princeton stopped using it for several decades right after Fritz left Princeton for Michigan.
Princeton used the helmet from 1935 to 1937 and from 1998 to present.
Michigan has used the helmet from 1938 to present.
Michigan is in its 72nd season with the helmet, while Princeton is in its 15th year with the helmet.

They're the TIGERS! Come on, Michigan Men. We need to show a bit more respect for the historic Princeton program. After all, they gave us Fritz Crisler.
By the way, if you saw those helmets live, you'd see that they were orange; it is just that tv tends to color-shift. Which is precisely why Michigan has gone to the neon-yellow from what used to truly be "maize."

I don't know if Michigan has ever used truly "maize." For a while we were in that ugly goldish phase (in the link, I would compare it to Golden Poppy or Golden Yellow). The color used, for the most part, now seems like pure Yellow, but closer to Maize than the goldish shades.

I just started college this year and I'm at Grove City College, a small college an hour north of Pittsburgh. We wear winged helmets, but their white and red-ish/maroon

... but you're also the Wolverines?
WTF?

High schools use the winged helmet, too. Dexter High School, right outside Ann Arbor, switched to the helmet a few years ago.

I once went to a game between Dexter and Hartland, both of whom use the winged helmet. Dexter was as pictured above, while Hartland wore the Maize & Blue. It was weird-tastic.
