Recruting Priorities
There's a nice diary entry right now about who we could sign to fill the remaining recruiting spots.

So this entry will probably be somewhat redundant. But instead of focusing on specific players when we know so little information about the potential snake-oil candidates I thought I would focus on positional needs. In other words, which positions do you think we most need to fill with any remaining scholarships? The best way to think of it is like this: If we could sign one 5* recruit, which position would you hope he played?
My priority list would be as follows:
1. MLB - We are still desperate at this spot.
2. DE - We have bodies, but could use a stud.
3. OL - We don't need for next year, but a star is needed for the future.
4. S - Definite need, but we have three guys already in this class
Any other positions are less critical since we have stars or depth at them (Gardner, Christian, Miller, etc.).
5. NT/DT
6. TE
7. OLB
8. RB
9. WR
10. CB
11. QB

this is redundant.
and its inaccurate.
1) rivals reports that we have 4 scholarships left to give.
2) three of those are expected to go to grimes, murphy, and parker.
3) the 4th is expected to go to a true nose-tackle - hankins, beachum, thornton, or unoffered roney lozano if those options fall through.
4) if another scholarship becomes available, decommitment/non-qualifier/etc., then the extra scholarship is expected to go to an inside linebacker - nealy, kitchens, or mehrer.
5) if torrian wilson wants to come here, we'll find room for him somehow(!?).

...pot meet bong. Remember, many on here spent much time in A2!

I think I would rank our priorities for a "Stud" as follows:
1. DE - We could really use a game changer to replace Graham. Roh is great, but we need a true five technique guy for the other side.
2. MLB - It's hard to say what we have now. We have Bell, Hawthorne, Demens, and Fitzgerald who could see time in the middle. I hope one pans out.
3. DT - Right now we only have Sagesse, Martin, and Campbell. It's hard to take over games if you can't keep fresh players on the DL in the second half.
4. OL - I'm very happy with last year's class, but for balance it would be nice to have a couple of player in this class.

2. Brandin Hawthorne plays SLB. He's way too small to play MLB.

I thought it was a foregone conclusion we were getting Grimes and Murphy and to a lesser extent Parker. Edit: counting fail.

Hankins is basically down to Ohio State and Florida evidently. We're with Bama trailing them.
