Recruiting rumors/questions
Just wondering if someone can shed some light on why Glenville coach hates us so much? Was there an incident that happened over one certain player or does he just simply hate Michigan? Also what happened with Jai Eugene. I had heard the main reason he stayed south was because he had a kid...any truth to that and if not what was the real story?

Carr benched Pierre Woods, a Glenville alum, over some off the field issues, I believe, and that didn't sit well with Teddy Ginn Sr. After that Ginn Sr. pretty much blackballed Michigan.
In regards to Jai Eugene, he did have a kid, and there is some chatter out there in regards to payments being made to Eugene in return to coming to LSU, but who's knows with recruiting being crazy and unpredictable. After that, Miles was out of Carr's good graces.

Weren't Miles and Carr on the outs well before the Jai Eugene incident? I thought there was a rift way back when the two were both assistants on Bo and/or Mo's staff. Then as soon as Carr was promoted to HC, Les Miles got the hell out of dodge.
As far as the Eugene incident, if there was any new damage done, I believe it was between Miles and Bo. I got it from the inside that Bo called up Les and cussed him out, as soon as Eugene chose LSU.

The rift between Miles and Carr is older than that. My understanding is that it goes back to around the time that they were both assistants under Moeller. The Jai Eugene thing didn't help patch things up any, though.

meaning more juicy rumors are that his dad or other relative was in jail prior to his signing and shortly thereafter was released and immediately placed in a plush job.
I do not believe any of this but have seen it thrown around.
The more logical explanation is that he just stayed home to be with his family and young baby.

I mean that happened in the movies, it probably happened here too.

Why go to Michigan where they hold you accountable for what you do off the field? Go to OSU where they turn trouble makers into Heisman trophy winners...

jai eugene had a kid last minute and stayed home cause of it.

justin feagin has a child as well. I won't go into details but I know that. Also some other people on the team as well have kids

The Pierre Woods situation is just an excuse used by Ginn. Ray Small and Jamario O'Neal have spent much of their Ohio State careers on the bench in Tressel's doghouse, and there has been no rift between Ginn and Tressel. It's just an excuse used by the coach of a high school to steer his kids away from Michigan.

I think the question, though, was WHY does Ginn want to steer his kids away from Michigan?
January 4th, 2009 at 1:48 PM ^
...a douche?

What doesn't make sense is not sending your players to a good school like M. There has to be something shady going on.
January 4th, 2009 at 1:55 PM ^
Because he's an Ohio State fan. Simple as that. He's a Buckeye.
January 4th, 2009 at 2:19 PM ^
It's not that simple. Ginn Sr. used to take his players to our camp every summer. Pierre Woods was one of them. Then Ginn and Carr had a falling out and Ginn started steering his kids away from us.
January 4th, 2009 at 2:30 PM ^
Like I said, why doesn't he give Tressel the same treatment for benching Ray Small and Jamario O'Neal?
Using the Pierre Woods situation is just an excuse by Ginn.
January 4th, 2009 at 3:23 PM ^
It's not clear if the riff was over Pierre Woods. That's just speculation.
What is known is that Ginn used to cooperate fully with our staff, and then he recently stopped. That can't just be explained by him being an OSU fan.

Didn't someone mention a few weeks ago that RR is apparently starting to make in-roads with the Glenville staff again?
January 4th, 2009 at 2:32 PM ^
yes, RR has begun the healing process. after lots of hugs and a few tears, everything should be fine.
