Rashan Gary official visit Saturday

Submitted by BlueCube on

This is big because it didn't look like he had any days available for an official visit after he scheduled the Iron Bowl. It was thought that Michigan wouldn't stand a chance if they didn't have an official visit.

He will be here Saturday per Steve Lorenz.

Paramus plays pretty much their entire schedule on Saturday's. He will be able to take very few OV's during the season. In fact outside of Auburn and now Michigan, I wouldn't be surprised if he's not able to make another game this year. The fact that he's using 1 of his OV's on Michigan on one of the few Saturdays he has available instead of to USC, ND, LSU, Gerogia, etc is HUGE news.

He's down to Michigan, Bama and Auburn...I personally don't think we lead, but if we're one of the 3 he's truly considering. He's getting good advice to take an OV to each and then compare all 3 at the end.

This visit is HUGE. It's going to have to stick with him for a loooong time.

With Auburn struggling and the Bama loss/Texas & Saban rumors/SEC is overrated media hype...now is the time to hit a home run in his recruitment. Whether any of the drama is true or matters isn't the point...the point is we have an opportunity. Sucks that it's a noon game, 3:30 would be much better - but hopefully fans are in, they're loud, we get a big win and Peppers plays out of his mind!

so maybe they are going to third on the list (maybe?). Maybe the Harbaugh factor has him intrigued and sees Michigan as a chance for early playing time and a coach that can get him to the NFL.

Clemson and Georgia will be players as long as they continue to perform - he's visited both schools already. Clemson puts a lot of DL/edge rusher types in the league and although history would suggest Georgia eventually caves to the hype and ends up 9-3 (with one of those losses being in Knoxville, hopefully), both of these teams are big programs that are playoff contenders right now. If we get a win in front of a great crowd saturday with Wormley and Crew getting some TFL's we will stay in this race until the end. But, we need the PC/Jersey kids recruiting like crazy and we need to hold up our end of the deal and win probably 9 games.

Agreed.  Nothing scares recruits away like the hint of coaching instability.  It certainly had an impact with us and Mr. Hand.

Of the three - Michigan, Auburn, Alabama - we are the ones for once with the most stable coaching situation.  There can be some questions, however hazy, about the other two.

This is big because the Gary family had said that he would use his officials to visit schools he hadn't already seen on un-officials. He has been to Michigan numerous times on un-official visits. That meant Michigan would not get an official. In recruiting, most recruits don't commit to a team they have not officially visited. Some do, but it is far fewer than those who offically visit.

He could have saved the OV for somewhere else. The one thing he hasn't seen is a game day so Michigan wanted him for a game which pretty much meant him flying in due to his schedule. With an OV, Michigan can cover the cost.

It's very possible he may come for a visit when his season is completed but he will have more time and be able to drive. This is a big visit.

It's the first game under Harbaugh at home versus a top 25 opponent.  I think the crowd will be there and psyched up for this one, even at Noon.  Denying BYU sleep will go a long way toward winning which is more important than the crowd level for landing Gary.  By the early minutes of Q1 Gary will see the Big House full and in all it's glory.

You are obviously not a basketball player. Every basketball player I knew couldn't wake up for shit.

Some people have different reactions to adrenaline too. I for one used to get extremely relaxed and yawn a lot. Some people get shaky, some people get nausious. It's all different strokes, man.

it seems most fans love the noon kicks for some reason but the truth is most players prefer playing later.

it wont be a deciding factor in a prospects college decision (or if it is, prob dont want those prospects)  but majority of prospects / players would rather play at night or late afternoon than 11 or noon.

prime time tv games under the lights are not the biggest advantages conferences like the sec hold over michigan but def still matter to many kids.  hopefully gary enjoys the early game atmosphere and he gets to take in a big win

I don't think Alabama is crapping the bed. They have a quarterback controversy and they just lost a shootout to the (IMO) best team in the country. Ole Miss is averaging over 60 points a game and has probably the most talented defense in the nation. That's what OSU is supposed to be when they're not too busy turning the ball over 5 times against a MAC team. I hate Bama as much as anyone, but right now Alabama would beat Auburn by three scores on a neutral field. Auburn is really bad.

I hate how people are just blowing this off. This is big news. We've all heard reports that Michigan was no even mentioned in his last recruiting interview, so take this as a good sign. He's been here a few times already, using an official on us is big. Getting him back on campus and spending more time here is always a good thing. Go blue.

Titanic news.

Full court press time.  This is Michigan's most important opportunity in years.  Possibly - as amazing as this is to say - even more important than Peppers.
