I'm sure there will be more mudslinging from this one.

EDIT: For those who didn't click the link, he says that JH says they didn't know if they would have room for him and ultimately offered him a PWO. He does thank JH and UofM for the opportunity. Not as bad as Swenson, but some will overreact to it.

You can be offered a job verbally but it not yours until you receive an offer letter and sign it. Same with recruiting. All offers are verbal until you receive your wriiten offer which you can can't receive until August 1at of your senior year. And even then your spot is not guaranteed until you meet all conditions of the offer (academics, etc) and sign the papers

I can't fault Weaver at all for feeling mad and disrespected.  I don't like what Harbaugh is doing.  If a kid is a plan B don't offer him until you strike out on your plan A.  This looks terrible for the squad and if I was a parent I'd start feeling very weary of sending my kid to AA espicially if he wasn't a high 4 star recruit.

who are all these people tweeting this kid?  I've never actually been on a recruit's twitter feed but I just checked Weaver's and it embarrasing how many Michigan people are tweeting him.

Rant done. Get off my lawn.  Hurr, hurr and all that.

If the PWO and a first-rate education is not what you want, then I understand. Do what you think is best for you and good luck to you in your future college choice.

Well we knew this was coming and at least he visited some other schools in the meanwhile. I am hoping he finds a good landing spot and does well.

I also hope Harbaugh and the staff learned from these events and perhaps handle things a little better next year.  The little to.no contact thing sucks.

Also if you haven't heard from the staff in a long time, why you wait until now to decommit unless you trying to hold a spot or continue bro raise your profile none of which I have a problem ftom a player perspective.

He's right about one thing. This is a business.

As much as some of us are angry about this, it's the way things work now. And the kid isn't totally innocent. He took a paid, official visit while "committed". It truly does go both ways.

good luck to him. it's just odd a kid gets mad at this, but let's say FSU had offered him and he dumped Michigan on signing day he would be fine with it. not saying this kid specifically. of people really had a problem with all this, then have a early signing day in July also.

FSU was an example. All im saying is kids flip on signing day every year and the other program is fucked. I'm sick of people acting like these poor kids are getting screwed over. He hasn't heard from the staff in months, takes a visit back in November to temple, and now he is upset he may not have a spot in the class??? Like he said, this is a business.

Wasn't it just last year we lost out on a couple of very good basketball players because we stopped recruiting them after Battle "committed" to Michigan. He jumped ship for Sryacuse and left Michigan holding the bag. We don't know the full story on any recruits that "decommitted" because Michigan cannot comment on them.

"This is a business" is always used to justify people being jerks to other people. Of course people have reaons for doing what they do. But the main points of people being critical are:

1. They had hoped Michigan would be better than being jerks to other people (seriously? -if it's true- no contact for months? Hoping people just get hints? - hey maybe it's not true I hope it's not but if it is - What kind of business is this? Middle school dating?)

2. And I think this one might be more useful applicable to your point of view: If you are a business that jerks other people people around, eventually you get the reputation for doing exactly that and it hurts your business. Since "this is a buisness" that is often a poor approach

As easy as it is to forget in the modern era of colege football, recruiting is ultimately about a kid making one of the biggest decisions of his life and deciding where to go to college. While I would hope my kid keeps his verbal commitments, it's ultimately his choice to make and remake if necessary. Drawing an equivalency between that and the standard by which an university and football program should be conducting business is ridiculous.

The last regime stuck with mediocre kids that did not develop, and was left at the altar by a number of kids. Harbaugh has a job to select the best kids for what he is trying to accomplish and once they "sign" develop them into the best ball players and men that he can. Sometimes kids are rejected and feelings get hurt in both ends.

I'll give Harbaugh benefit of the doubt but this is not good and when the same thing happens over and over its more than misscomunication or just one side of the story.

Gotta think Hacket will ask Harbaugh to find a better way of handling this situation.

Hopefully this was a first year anomaly. Harbaugh might not have realized he would be able to pull in the higher rated recruits. In future years he should not be accepting commitments from low rated recruits so early in the process.

And if he does offer them early, and accepts their committment, he needs to tell them one of two things:

1) You are Plan A.  We want you without any qualifications and you will not lose your slot in favor of somebody else.  And then honor that statement.

2) You are Plan B.  We are interested in you, but we are also looking at other recruits.  If we do not go with them, the slot is yours.  But not until then.  Do not assume you have a slot.

Also, let the Plan B guys know their status as soon as possible.  Don't just ignore them.

I don't feel bad for this kid. Business is business. If this is the worst thing that this team ever does, I'll take it. The fucking Univeristy of Michigan took away a scholarship to an average football player. Why don't we call CNN. You guys all need to grow up. This is Michigan you're talking about. Just all of you shutup right now!
