Randy Edsall on ESPN First Take

Submitted by SpreadGuru on

I just finished watching a sit down interview with Rece Davis and Randy Edsall, the coach of UConn.  Holy shit.  How many different ways can you come across as arrogant?  Everything after he mentioned dealing with the death of a player last year was self-promotional and all about him.  I hope Rich Rod and Co. knock that fuckin' smile off of his face on Sept. 4.  When asked about the opener at Michigan (Davis mentioned that "anyone who knows football would favor UConn"), he mentioned nothing about UM and just talked about himself.

September 4th-Come get some you frickin' arrogant prick.

I'll reserve judgment without seeing the interview, but I will say one thing:

Come September 4th, Uconn better be ready, because our year of destruction is about to begin!

Go Blue!!!!!!!!!!

I did not see the interview, but strikes me that UConn has a lot of ground to cover before they can get away with arrogance.  That's our job.

Here's the link

He'll be appearing on "The Herd" and "College Football Live" among other shows.   I'm looking forward to some bulletin board material.

I'll post the "First Take" video as soon as it becomes available on ESPN. I'll admit, I know nothing about this guy so my mind can easily be manipulated towards distaste.

Do you happen to have the link with this interview?

And duuude, Rece..what's your problem. I like you man.  Don't go trying to brown nose Randy Edsall to make him a good interview

The radio interview he had on the Herd was almost completely different.  He talked about Michigan for a quarter of the interview and called RR "a great guy and a great coach" who's had a hard time implementing his system here (true statement).  Seemed like a perfectly decent and nice dude.  While he may be a jerk on tv, don't judge him and his team because of one interview.

The reality of it is that they are our first game, so I'll probably hate UConn up until then anyway, not matter what this guy says.  And if we beat him and he turns out to be a total prick, I probably won't hate him that much because we beat him.  And if we lose, I don't care if Randy Edsall rescues orphaned dolphins in his spare time, I'll probably think he's a piece of shit.  Football has a way of skewing my perceptions.

This is the same clown that last year ran up the score with a passing touchdown on a play that would run out the clock if he took a knee... on his alma mater no less.

Screw Edsall.

And another reason to hate UConn... the UConn bunny.

That's a fair amount of smack to talk for a team that had one decent season.  Usually teams like UConn that come in to the Big House are pretty respectful, saying things like "our team is preparing hard for this challenge" or "this is a real chance for our team to show itself at the start of the season against a strong opponent."  To say "who knows football would favor UConn" is just arrogant.

Man do I hope that Denard breaks of an 80 yard TD run on the first play of the game.

I just listened to Randy Edsall on the Herd and to be honest he didnt sound like a total asshole. Seemed decent.  Talked about Rich Rod fairly positively and even said that he and Rich were "friends".  That being said, I hope we euthinize the huskies come September 4th.

Go Blue!!

He's on College Football Live right now.  Seems much less arrogant than he was on First Take.  Complimented Rich Rod and his job at UofM multiple times.  Also, it's nice to see Moxie Forcier on something else other than my computer screen.

Also, his goal is to keep the Big House quiet.  We all better be ready to scream our god damn heads off that entire game.  Go Blue!

I mean, unless they go up big early (which would make it moot anyway), there's no chance in hell the stadium will be quiet.  It will be opening day, it will be a sell-out, the additions will make it louder than it used to be, and because of what's riding on this season and this game in particular, people will be going crazy.  And RR doesn't exactly run a "lull you to sleep" style offense either.  This will be action packed and the crowd will be going crazy.

I know that I will be hated for this, but I have actually hung out with Edsall for a little and he was a nice guy.  He grew up in my town and comes back every summer to play in a celebrity golf tournament to raise money for his local HS.  We all went out to the bar after golf and just hung out.  His brother was also there and he was showing off his final four rings that he got for being a referree.  Overall they were cool guys and we talked about everything.  I will say that Randy just left without putting any money in for the check, which I thought was just ridiculous.  Probably makes more than all of us and not only does he not pick up the check he contributes no money towards it.
