# Q&A with a former Wolverine.

Submitted by FormerWolv on December 8th, 2011 at 7:58 PM
I'm a former student-athlete at Michigan... No I didn't play football but know quite a few people that did. Ask me Q's and I'll answer (within reason).

FormerWolv

Just trying to help out. I take pride in my time at Michigan, like so many on this board do.  I have some free time and figured if anyone has a question about student athletes, I'll do my best to answer it.

Team Edward or Team Jacob?

....that asshole on Sybil would listen to Swing Out Sister at 2 AM? That was me, incidentally.

Telling us what sport you played and when would go a long way.

Trains A and B are traveling in the same direction on parallel tracks. Train A is traveling at 60 mph and train B is traveling at 70 mph. Train A passesa station at 12:20 P.M. If train B passes the same station at 12:32 P.M., at what time will train B catch up to train A?

He is 12 miles behind and makes up 10 miles every hour, so it would take 1.2 hours or 1 hour and 12 minutes to make up the 12 miles.  So it would be 12:32 plus 1 hour and 12 minutes, or 1:44 PM.

You are right. Here's what happened.

I just said the distance between the two trains at 12:32 is x (didn't want to try to calculate the distance in my head) and was accomplished in 12 minutes at 70mph. The difference in speed is 10mph or 1/7 the speed of the train, so it should take 7 times longer to make up the distance 7*12 = 84 minutes. 12:32 plus 84 minutes is 1:56.

It should have been distance x in 12 minutes at 60mph. This the 10mph difference was 1/6, so it should take 6 times longer so 72 minutes.

I just got the speeds of the trains mixed up when doing the math in my head, which is why they always tell you to show your work. :)

In a race, the quickest runner can never overtake the slowest, since the pursuer must first reach the point whence the pursued started, so that the slower must always hold a lead.

It WOULD be 1:44... but the trains crossed into the Central Time Zone just east of Chicago.

I didn't play sports there, but I did once give a head nod to Lavell Blanchard while we both waited in line at Wendy's.  You can ask me anything, too.  It doesn't even have to be within reason so feel free to get wild with this one.

Brandon Graham and I shared a joke in line at UHS one day.   But folllow up question: League Wendy's or Union Wendy's because the Wendy's in the League is obviously better?

My knowledge of Coach Miles' sexcapades all comes from TMZ, ancient mythology, and 70's pornos where you can totally recognize him because he's still wearing that oddly fitting hat.

FormerWolv

Won't answer that, but it involved hitting a ball that may or may not be moving

How many numbers of Pi do you know of the top of you head?
