i think losing your first game after making the ncaas will do 10x more than getting to the semis of the NIT. mediocre teams go to the NIT, good programs go to the NCAA

it only means your the 66th best team out there... Ya when Michigan won the NIT a few years ago, I was happy for them, but I definitely would have rather seen them go to the Dance

I don't know, I think that sometimes a young team might benefit from more games and practices, and the home games can be exciting even if it's just the NIT. Michigan's definitely not there now, this program needs (and hopefully will get) an NCAA bid to move past all the crap in the past.
