The Devin Gil/ Josh Ross rotation remains befuddling.

Just imagine how well Nico would have done if he had gotten all those targets that went to McKeon, McCurry, and Gentry. Talk about a waste of talent.

This might be my hottest take ever (which is saying a lot) but, here goes...

They should have kept him at QB. I said it last year and I feel the same way now. Most of his production seems to be in practice. I don't get the hype. If they'd kept him at QB maybe we'd have had a real quarterback last year.

Huge body, and he didnt use it on that horrible effort in the end zone at ND. Then two dropped TDs in consecutive weeks. And his two drops today were immediately followed up by disastrous plays.

Posted earlier that for a while I held an illogical grudge against Shawn Crable for his dump penalty against OSU in '06. Gentry entered that conversation after his many disappointments this season.

Patterson was a good QB. So was McCaffrey. We didn't need a QB; we needed a tight end who could catch and block.

Moving Gentry to TE was a smart move because we had nobody better. He was put in an impossible position, so we have no right to be mad that he failed.

We should have recruited a real TE. Mustapha Muhammad might be that guy next year; I don't know. All I know is we don't have that guy right now.

Another hot take: The consistent use of in-line TE’s that are not above average blockers drives me bonkers. On most days, I have nothing against their pass catching abilities, but since we’re stuck with the old-school “ground and pound” philosophy, these guys contribute very little in that regard, and the use of them just brings another good run defender into the box.

One more: Michigan needs to strongly consider moving towards an air-raid. I know some people on here would be against it, but to me the strength of Michigan next year will be at WR, and we need to have DPJ, Collins, a healthy Black and a slot maestro on the field at all times IMO.

Since they can’t seem to stop (or at least contain) OSU no matter who’s calling the shots over the last 11 years, it’s time to see if we can outscore them, and you’re not going to do that without a 21st century offense.

I disagree wholeheartedly.

He had a bad game yesterday. There's no getting around that.

But he's a 6'8", 260 lb. player. When you're that tall, you generally don't make it at QB. Brock Osweiler has mostly been terrible in the NFL, Dan McGwire is a blast from the past bust, etc.

Also, some of the blame has to go to Shea Patterson, who has thrown two balls in the last two weeks that have been at Gentry's feet. He's the tallest guy on the field - bar NONE - and you're throwing the ball at his shoelaces. (I get that he dropped a couple high passes, too, but he has shown that he can catch those in the past.)

Gentry is a good TE. He was our third-leading receiver this year and averaged almost 16 yards/catch. That average is #9 in the whole Big Ten, and the only tight end ahead of him is Purdue's Brycen Hopkins.
