I do know the Browns have interest in Hurst but NOT at 4.  That will either be Chubb, Barkely, Fitzpatrick or even Landry

I could see the Browns either trading back into round one for Hurst if he's still on the board or waiting to see if they can get him at 33.  Especially if they take Fitzpatrick or Barkey at 4.

Mason Rudolph to Buffalo? Has he ever played outside of the Big 12 footprint?  Does he have the arm to play in Foxborough and Orchard Park in December?

And are WR worth drafting in the first round? Especially in a year like this, I wouldn't take one in the first.

Go fuck yourself. I'm saying that because he's absolutely a turnover dispenser at the college level. Defenses are much faster in the NFL, and running around in the pocket for 5 seconds before launching a bomb off the back foot won't cut it. Edit: Jackson had 10 picks and 9 fumbles last year compared to 6 and 3 from Mayfield.

Mayfield's a better prospect than Jackson, but the people who say that Jackson is really a receiver are out to lunch. Among other reasons, Jackson has a gun for an arm, has tremendous physical talent, and had to carry his offense by himself for the entire season. It's little wonder he pressed.

I wouldn't bet a top five pick on him, but he's got a lot of potential in the late first round or the second round for a team that's interested. I'd be terrified if, say, Green Bay picked him up.

The Browns announced today they have added Jackson to their list of Quarterbacks they are having in for personal visits.  Some have speculated that one potential scenerio would be for Dorsey to draft Chubb at #1 to pair him with Myles Garrett then trade out of 4 with Buffalo to get their 12 & 22 and use one of those on Jackson.

They've already made it known they are taking a developmental QB by trading for Taylor and signing Stanton.  We just dont know who that might be (Darnold, Allen or Jackson).

That would be such a browns move. They traded down instead of drafting wentz and Watson. They targeted questionable first rounders like Manziel, Keizer, and the old man. If they do it again and draft a guy that some experts think should move to WR, scored a 13 on the wonderlic, and has his mom as his agent then they’ve either learned nothing from their past mistakes or just figure if they stick to their strategy it’ll eventually work. Jackson is the riskiest pick they could make. If I were Dorsey I would honestly draft qb at 1 and 4 to increase their odds of finally landing an elite franchise qb and ending the stupid never ending qb Jersey once and for all

grades. Mayfield won't be the first QB off the board. Even the Browns aren't that incompetent. They have surely learned their lesson after Manziel. Take Josh Allen 1, and Hurst at 4.

Barkley shouldn't make it to 7 either. Should be a Leveon Bell level back...gotta be off the board early.  Would be a nice fit with Andrew Luck, but they are so bad, they need help all over.

I would argue that Mayfield is more of a sure thing than Allen. People are making him out to be the second coming of Carson Wentz, but his game is just straight up not as impressive. The Browns have drafted many QBs based on potential in recent years, and that has gone not great.

Yeah, okay. Not even the Browns are dumb enough to use the 1st damn pick in the draft for a 6 foot quarterback who is a hot head on the field and has shown attitude problems off it. He may well drop to the 2nd day because of those issues. They can just draft him then. My guess is that the Browns pick Allen #1. Allen is of course, Blake Bortles 2.0. Poor Browns...

I love Mo, but PFF seems to be way higher on him than the mock drafters/scouts at large. He's been falling out of the first round in most of the recent mock drafts I've seen. Seems he's getting knocked for lack of prototypical size (although he is about the same size as Aaron Donald) and perhaps also the heart issue. If he does fall that far, he'll be a huge steal.

If he went to the Patriots it would be a great story, as he's the son of a former Pats player and chearleader. I'm not sure if he's a system fit, however, as the Pats normally like huge run stuffing DTs. They definitely need interior rush, though, and if he's on the board it would seem like a no-brainer from a talent/need/immediate impact standpoint.

Cleveland would actually be a good spot for Hurst with Garrett on the outside occupying attention. But I highly doubt he'll be picked anywhere close to that.

All you need to know about the draft. There is no way he slides past 6, and is probably the first non-QB off the board. I love Mo, but no way does he go fourth.

PFF is the worst for mock drafts. they basically just rank the players by their score and that's it. I love Hurst, but second half of day one is about as good as he can expect.

I just hope Cleveland can live up to expectations, and finally win the AFC North this year. They have the roster to do it, and every other team in their division is struggling. Can't wait to see this team make a deep run in the playoffs.

Even I'm not that delusional and as a long-time Browns season ticket holder I'm pretty fucking delusional.

Best case would be 6-10 or maybe 7-9 (I dont know if you've seen it but our schedule is brutal) next year with our QB of the future safely tucked onto the bench for the year.  Whoever we get at 4 is a budding star and the rest of our young talent continues to develop.

Maybe 2019 we start taling playoffs....maybe.  And that's only because Pittsburg, Baltimore and Cinci are older than me and cant play forever.

That and the law of averages dictates that even a blind squirrel finds a nut every once and a while.......

BlueChip27

They simply plug and play.....

Forget Cleveland's ineptitude.....they are not taking Baker Mayfield at #1.....Barkley is not going to fall to #7 (or whatever they project).....

DeepBlueC

And certainly not as the #1 pick. OU quarterbacks have a nasty habit of racking up huge numbers in college and then tanking in the NFL.

Barkley isn’t slipping past #4. The Browns probably won’t take him first overall as I’m sure they’ll take a QB, but the Giants probably take Rosen or Chubb, the Jets are unquestionably taking a QB, and then the Browns will get Barkley.

1) Bufflo trades their two first rounders (12 + 21) to the Colts to draft Allen or Mayfield.

2) Colts us the 12th pick on Hurst to be the perfect 3-tech for the Tampa-2 system.

3) They use #21 on Connor Williams, #37 on Darrius Guice, and a third-rounder on Mason Cole, finally giving Luck an offrensive line and a rushing attack. Plus, like, I get to root for two excellent Wolverines.

4) The rest: all of the LBs and CBs.

If Cleveland does anything other than saquon at 1, best remaining qb at 4, they're even dumber than the bears trading up 1 spot to get a qb last year.

Hand Pointer

April 3rd, 2018 at 10:44 PM ^

They acquired Carlos Hyde in free agency so I doubt that signals they are after Barkley. If they are smart they draft whatever qb they like with the first pick, then trade their fourth pick to whatever team is chomping at the bit to get the fourth best quarterback, still getting a good defensive player later in the first (maybe minkah fitz) plus reaping the value of whatever else they gained from the trade.
