Prepare for the Ken Wilkins announcement tomorrow
The premium scouting services are indicating, as we already knew, that LB Ken Wilkins will be announcing his decision tomorrow (Tuesday).
It's worth mentioning the bad stuff so we're not disappointed tomorrow (again, I remind you, high school junior/senior recruiting, 8 months, and all that). However, Wilkins announced he would make up his mind tomorrow after he attended the BBQ. He made a visit to Pitt this past weekend.
MGoBlog Recruiting Heuristic indicates we should be happy he announced he would make his decision known after attending the BBQ. However, it's just as likely he could have said that in a negative sense, as in, I've made up my mind to NOT come here.
I think Michigan and Pitt are the finalists and Pitt got the last look. Pitt has two commitments, we have 12, right?
I am optimistic. Let's see what happens tomorrow. GO BLUE.
Have you already prepared your TPS reports for your boss?
.....I haven't yet done my 15 minutes of work for the week. I spent today trying to pick up Jennifer Aniston at Chili's.
Supposedly Brad found out she's having my baby. Brad was seen putting his mack down on her at the Cannes Film Festive...ouch!
I'm going to need you to work this weekend.
This situation doesn't fit the heuristic perfectly. He said he would announce after our BBQ, yes, but it was after the Pitt visit. The heuristic usually refers to a guy who announces his announcement (huh?) after a visit, but before another one.
Meaning: He had it down to Michigan and Pitt. He saw Michigan, then decided that after he sees Pitt, he'll announce. This really doesn't tell us anything. All he is saying is that once he visits his top 2, he'll announce.
feelin kinda BLUE!
For the onslaught of .......he's not a 8 star recruit he sucks.........RR doesn't know the Big 10...........how's he going to play the slot at 6' 4"???
I am prepared. Should be a good day.
Uhh... I thought pretty much everyone decided that he's going to commit to Michigan.
It's good to get some help for the defense. Hopefully brian will do a review of the defensive recruiting thus far sometime this week. That will be more interesting. I think we need a lot more help on that side of the ball.
But the only place I see news on Wilkins today is the Pittsburgh affiliate sites.
Oh well, 50/50 chance. Good luck for tomorrow.
I agree with you greatly about defensive recruiting. It seems the coaches are looking for 2 or 3 more CBs, and probably a couple of defensive tackles, in addition to Paskorz, Robinson and Kinard.
Tom Beaver is confident and that is good enough for me.
Also, I was reading on a Pitt message board that Wilkins' high school coach hates Pitt. One poster said he would shave his head for the first time in his life if Wilkins picks Pitt.
Wilkins is a great fit for the quick and I am excited to have him on board.
Really hope I don't have to look at this post tomorrow and feel like an ass.
Thus another MGoRecruiting Heuristic: active pessimism on a partisan message board is a great indicator.
I've been pretty sure about Wilkins to Michigan for a while now. I think we get good news tomorrow. And I don't care that he's a three-star - the guy's got more than 20 offers and maybe 25, who knows, and the only thing keeping OSU out of the game was test scores (which I doubt he's actually in danger of running afoul of, it's just, he doesn't have any yet) and not football skills. I think if he commits he might well be right up there with Marvin Robinson as far as defensive recruits go.
tomorrow morning, he's in the fold.
are often times more like "I know this is going to happen but I won't tell you for sure"
If he has a good feeling, then there's a good chance this goes our way.
Since you follow them so much.
...but if they did, I'm pretty certain they'd be confident HE'S DEFINITELY going sign Michigan today, unless he signs for PITT because BARWIS likes TOUGH football players who LOVE FOOTBALL NO SUGAR COAT.
So he can qualify for UM but not TUOOS? Its the B10 that sets the qualifying mark right?
Qualify? The NCAA sets the guidelines for that. A coach can decide not to offer a kid if he thinks he might be a risk for becoming academically ineligible.
It might be that he just hasn't even gotten his scores back yet and OSU wanted to see them in hand before they offered.
THEY CAN'T HAVE HIM ANYMORE.
I'm sure they don't want him anyways though. He's just a 3 star! RR SUCKS THIS ISN'T BIG EAST NEMORE!!!
