Prediction for Championship Game Tonight

Do you think it will be a close game or a blowout?

I think Oregon wins 31-27.

One thing I know will happen is that OSU will, again, score a TD right before the first half ends. They seem to do that a lot and then get the ball to start the third quarter and, shockingly, score a TD on their first drive.

Having a 3rd string QB finally catches up to OSU, Jones throws a costly INT to seal the victory for Oregon. Meyer eats more pizza.

That's what we thought against Wisconsin and Alabama and guess what - they still won and Jones played well in both games. That guy is good and would likely start on some other teams. Maybe not elite programs, but lower tiered teams, sure.

Both teams are really good, and pretty complete. I think it'll be similar to the Oregon-FSU game, where the defense has its say, until the offenses figure it out and exploit any turnovers. I'm picking Oregon with no bias. Mariota and the Ducks fast defense should be the difference.

If Oregon wins it makes the offseason easier to deal with. If OSU wins than that's all we will hear about for seven months. I don't even think I want to watch. Living in Cleveland I thought about going to the event tonight with Brian and JUB but the thought of being there with OSU fans is unbearable. I am a Ann Arbor transplant and I don't think people really understand how awful and negative OSU fans can be. I don't see that party ending well regardless of the outcome of the game.

but I have the same feeling I had in 2002/03 when Ohio St. beat Miami.  Something weird will happen in that stadium (phantom PI calls, etc..)  that will allow the Buckeyes to win.   WIth that being said Oregon sure better win this game.

I keep trying to persuade myself to thinking Oregon is gonna dominate this game. But I keep thinking  picking against Urban in a championship game is a bad idea.

I say Oregon wins 41-30, but man I don't feel good about that pick

I tend to think it will be close for a bit and the one team will begin to pull away at the beginning of the fourth. I really hope thats Oregon. It comes down to two factors for me. 1. The run game of both squads. 2. The tempo of the game.

I feel like ohio is the better team at the moment. They have the better, morem well rounded RB. They probably have the better receivers (now). Oregon has the better QB and probably slighty the better line, at least for their scheme.

On D, ohio's D line will cause problems, but as Oregon showed against Florida State, their effectiveness can be minimalized. Assuming they dont tip a pass that turns into a turnover I dont feel like they will have an immense impact (please don't be wrong!). The rest of ohio's D is ok, but not stellar. They will get run down  and confused with the pace if Oregon gets in a groove. It has happened to everyone else (except Arizona once) this season.

Regardless, if ohio runs the ball well, to me thats the difference in the game.

Going against my better judgement I'll say 41-35 Oregon. ohio will have a shot at the end put will come up short. Lets hope they have some turnovers.

And yeah...I know...OSU has a third-string QB! But...that dude could start for many, MANY D-1 teams. Dare I say most?

I don't WANT this to happen...but I think this will happen.

Ohio State - 38

Oregon - 27

I can see Elliott having a huge game.

I had a friend of mine who has no dog in the fight either way put it to me this way:  If osu wins, the ESPN-mafia will spin it as "Urban Meyer created an SEC-style team at osu to win the National Championship."  That is something I don't think I could handle.  Aside from the respect that the B1G would get, or the Jim Harbaugh publically stated rooting interests, I don't think I could bring myself to root for the conference, which is a very SEC type thing to do anyway.  All that said... Go Ducks.

Yup. I don't get the "root for the conference" thing. I mean, I get it, but just cannot convince myself to do it. I absolutely hate seeing our chief rivals have so much success. If Michigan were good, I might root for the conference, but if I have to be miserable, then I want their fans to be the same. I always tell a buckeye friend of mine, "It's easy for you to root for the conference and want your rival to be good when you're sitting at the top and beating everyone." Well, it's not easy for me when I see how much success and fun they have been experiencing, especially when my team has been down so long.

It is okay to root for the BIG TEN CONFERENCE in this game.

I just can't see how rooting for the PAC 12 over the BIG TEN Benefits Michigan. I don't care what it does for OSU. It would be good for the BIG TEN to have the Title of Champions.

U of M can bring OSU back to reality later this year when we play them in the Big House and it will be just a little sweeter if they happen to be defending Champions at the time.
