Potential Starting lineup when MegaClass are seniors

Submitted by Hurricane on July 8th, 2011 at 9:36 PM

I might be getting a little ahead of myself, but the exciting developments in the recruiting world got me thinking about what our lineup could potentially look like when the 2012 class are seniors.  I have put together a projected 2015 starting lineup based upon our current commits and potential 5th year seniors along with their projected eligibility. It gives us a good idea as to where we are at so far and areas of need.  The future looks bright and if some of the kids we are recruiting go blue, it will be even brighter.

QB:  Shane Morris Jr/Jr

RB:  Thomas Rawls Sr/Sr*

TE: Funchess Sr/Sr or Barnett Sr/Sr*

LT: Erik Magnuson Sr/Sr

LG: Caleb Stacey Jr/Sr

C:   Jack Miller Sr/Sr*

RG:  Blake Bars Jr/Sr

RT: Ben Braden Jr/Sr

SDE: Mario Ojemudia Jr/Sr

DT: Matt Godin Jr/Sr

WDE: Tom Strobel Jr/Sr

WLB: Royce Jenkins-Stone Sr/Sr

MLB: Joe Bolden Sr/Sr

SLB: James Ross Sr/Sr

CB: Terry Richardson Sr/Sr; Anthony Standifer Sr/Sr

SS: Allen Gant Jr/Sr

FS:  Jarrod Wilson Sr/Sr

Dude is a beast and highly under the radar he is so quick i could see him playing ahead of someone possibly. He is 6'7 and if we lets just dream get kalis wormely pipkins and obrien this could be an even brighter picture. If we look at just defense it could turn out something like the 97 defense. I am pumped though.

Of course I want every future class to be as good as this class is turning out to be.  But if Hoke & Co. indeeed do take a class of 26-27 as most people believe, then how big could next years class (2013) possibly be?  I'm just guessing but it seems like we won't have room for more than 18 or so kids, right?  Or perhaps you are counting on quality to make up for the lack of quantity.  Shane Morris certainly is a good start.

I love it.. and that's not even counting Kalis, Diamond, Pipkins, and whoever we pick up on WRs plus the 2013s. Love this class a lot.

I would switch up Ojemudia and Strobel. Ojemudia is small for a WDE. He's might play some OLB.

Also, if Countess redshirts, he could start over T-Rich or Standifer.

The only knock I have against your lineup is that it doesn't account for any attrition. I figure 1 or 2 might go to the NFL early, get injured, be inelgible or something. Ideally that wouldn't happen but who know's that far in the future.

Don't forget though that as much as we love these recruits inevitably some of them won't pan out. Look at past class and not all the 4 and 5 star players turn into stars.
<br>However, if we keep bringing in great classes the players that to run into studs of each class will make a great team. One class will not though

D*mmit! I tried to hit the "Underrated" moderate button for your post, ILwolverine, but accidentally hit the "Overrated" button instead. Sorry about that.

Anyone who agrees with his post want to hit a positive moderate option to make his comment visible again? Little help?

You basically put everyone we have currently recruited in their normal spots.  Hopefully we have some stud underclassmen we've recruited as well that will vie for a starter spot.  A return to the glory days of truckloads of talent.

The coaches have told Thomas Rawls he isn't going to redshirt just FYI. You also seem to have swapped Ojemudia and Strobel, Strobel is the SDE and Ojemudia projects more to WDE or the SAM.

I would also throw Chris Bryant in there, he's almost guarenteed a redshirt as a guard this year, and offensive guards rarely leave early.

Strange to not see an incoming slot reciever growing into a Nose Tackle or some other equally odd progression. Only thing I'd change is Ojemudia projects to be more of a WDE or OLB coming in at only 215. It's a stretch for him to play RVB's spot when he weighs 40-50 lbs less than he did as a 17 year old. Just with the kids already committed I'd switch up Ojemudia and Strobel. I agree that no matter what Bars was told he'd make an odd Left Tackle.

Pharaoh Brown at WDE, Strobel at SDE.  Ojemudia backing up Brown, perhaps.  Also, I expect Beyer to RS, and if he does I bet he's the starter at WDE.

All of the LBs are wrong.  RJS at MIKE, Bolden at SAM and Ross at WILL.  Also, some of the 2011 guys will RS, and they'll push.  I could see Kellen Jones in there somewhere.

Chris Bryant will start at one of the guard spots, doesn't really matter over whom.

No mention of AJ Williams - unless these are just starters.

Rawls will not redshirt, but Hayes will.  Put Hayes in there, but to be honest I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up as a receiver and not a running back.

Bellomy will still be here, he'll battle with Morris since he'll be two years older than him.

OK, but the depth chart lists Ojemudia on the weakside and Strobel on the strongside.  Either way, Pharaoh Brown or Beyer will start at WDE that year over Ojemudia I bet.

I guess there's just some confusion in who will play what on the other positions.  I think Ross is a WILL all the way, I think Magnus will agree.  And if I were to pick, I'd put RJS at MIKE and Bolden at SAM, but who knows.

The mgoblog depth chart also has Kovacs as the starting FS and Carvin the starting SS, and I think those will be switched.

I wonder with our projected depth at DE if he doesn't play both ways, and more at TE than DE. Just wondering, but he's a QB/TE right now who'll play End in college, but has been very strong offensively in recent 7on7s. Just thinking that he'll be strong at DE, but could be even stronger at TE maybe.

Don't know if this guy is credible but:

It does not seem like this Mega Class is over yet (hopefully).  How many of those talented players would be back-ups if Michigan gets some more elite players?  Can you imagine Godin as a back-up if Michigan gets Pipkins and O'Neil?  How about Ojemudia backing up Washington or Wormley, or one of them backing up Ojemudia?   Beyer would also be a back-up to one of those two guys unless he out-plays them.  What about Kalis, Bryant, Braden and Stacey battling it out for two starting positions while the other two are back-ups?  Countess would be a big contender at CB as well.  This is all off course if they get commits from the players I mentioned that they currently do not have committed to them.

Would Rawls really redshirt this year to be placed as a "Sr." by the time the 2012 class is at senior status?  Dam, it's good to have the traditional style of play and recruiting back to this program.

this class looks spectacular so far. hoke's doin great so far, and he can probably get a great jump on recruiting for next year. Michigan is definitely on the right track now, and they could be serious national contenders in a matter of a few years.

I find it really hard not to get carried away.  I see a really bright future ahead, but we've got to play this season first...

Can't wait for the first game of the Hoke era.

Everyone should be excited about this class. If Michigan takes 24ish players and a couple of them are consensus 4 stars players, they'll have a top 10 class. That said, check out the Rivals' historical rankings page. In 2003, Michigan had a 17 player class with just 4 players not getting at least 4 stars. This is an attempt to return to normal.
