The Ann Arbor City Council voted unanimously Monday night to send a strong message to the University of Michigan: Pay for city services on football Saturdays.

Now U-M has until Aug. 26 to strike a deal with the city to reimburse it for costs associated with providing traffic management services during Michigan football games and other special events at the Big House — in addition to the public safety services the city provides.

Well we got that cool Hawk thing out of the deal.  You know for people who are too lazy to walk a couple of hundred feet to the Seventh Street light or over to the light on 1st Ave.

While we're at it lets keep Plymouth posted at 35 mph but add more crosswalks.  It's like Frogger!

ND didnt want to pay South Bend for security for the eighth home game / S.B. wouldn't allow the game without being comped for it.   So ND took the show on the road for neutral site games - also to do their 'national' recruiting.

Hope that isn't in the works here... but this coupled with next year's Jerry Dome game gives me some pause.

Why not just ask the university to pay for snow removal and garbage pickup too? I'm pretty sure Ann Arbor makes a few dollars off of the university every year. Go ask east Lansing what real problems look like and thank your lucky stars that your blessed with one of the top academic/medical/research/everything else that brings business to Ann Arbor institutions in the country. Say thank you and go about your business.
