Possible Basketball 2011 or 2012 Recruit

Submitted by Wolvercane on

I saw this on ESPN's Rumer Control, but apparently Michigan has offered IN PF Mitch McGary their open 2011 scholarship (and I am assuming this means he also has a 2012 offer in case he stays in high school for his senior year) that was open up from Morris going pro. UConn is also offering a scholarship for the 2011 class.

McGary is a big time prospect, rated the #1 PF and 4th overall from ESPN for the 2012 class. There is the potential that he can join the 2011 class if he so wishes (not quite sure how that would work, but he can if he wants to). While it is a possibility, the chances of happening are not too high as his high school coach does expect him back for next year, but with 17 year old kids, this can change in a hurry.

He does have a Michigan connection as his AAU teammate is Glenn Robinson III, who is committed to the Wolverines for the 2012 class.

How about we work on getting some size first.  I love the work and mprovement Morgan has shown, but I still see him as a power forward not a center.  Can you imagine what these team could be like with an Epke Udoh type player, 6' 10" athletic, shot blocker with some range on his shot?  The team would be scary.

I don't think he is saying they are busts or haven't contributed yet, we just need some more consistency out of them, Horford particularly. He was really young and skinny (early) last year and if he makes a Morgan type of step up he could really be a force for us. Also, Smotryz played really well but just needs to defend better, mainly in space or when he is moving. gajensen just wants us to be able to trot out lineups with Horford, Morgan, Smotrcyz/Novak, as your frontcourt.

I work in an Indiana school and just wanted to clarify how he can graduate early.  Indiana has pretty easy graduation requirements.  They have a "Core 40" in which a student must earn 40 credits (they have to be certain credits, not just 40 PE credits) in order to graduate.  They earn 1 credit for every semester in a class.  Most students will earn between 14-16 credits per year. Therefore after 3 years, all students who have not failed a class are over 40 credits.  Normally if a student wants to graduate early, they are only missing 12th grade English and government and econ.  These classes can easily be taken ahead of time or in the summer.
