Wow, that's the first reasonable thing I've seen on G-Rob since this who uproar started. All things considered, he seems like he'd be a good hire.

Maybe UofM and Syracuse traded coaches? Perhaps M had to hire G.R. because Syracuse wanted out of paying his last year on his contract and Shafer was going to demand money from M -- so they just swapped places in the end. PERHAPS "the knowledge" could shed some light on this farce? HA. All in all, we do not know how we are going to do with G.R. at the helms of the defense. I think, for what it is worth, he is a step of from a Stanford D-Coordinator who did not have much on his resume. G.R. has been around the block a few times and he will help lead us to our return to Glory. Even if I would not have hired him, RR did and because RR did, I must say: GO BLUE!

Always thought GR was a great defensive coach at Denver when I lived there. The fact that he failed as a HC has no relevance to a job as DC. Take a look at how many ex NFL HCs (that failed miserably) are immediately hired as coordinators and "assistant HC". It's a different skill set (HC vs. DC).

A guy from the AA news reported that on GR's Texas year, the Longhorns gave up a total of 3 points in the 3rd quarter all season, which indicated pretty good adjustment ability

seems he produced a high pressure d at every one of his stops as a DC... even with the Chiefs "Last season (2003), Robinson’s Chiefs’ defense produced 36 sacks (T-6th/AFC), 25 interceptions (2nd AFC/3rd NFL) and forced 37 turnovers (T-3rd AFC/5th NFL). Kansas City led the NFL in turnover margin with a +19 advantage in that category. In 2001, the Chiefs registered 34 sacks, 18 interceptions and forced 31 turnovers. They led the AFC and ranked third in the NFL in turnover margin that year." I agree it seems a good hire. Now if only the fan base can wait for our young players to mature, and us to land some LBs.
