Photos: Harbaugh talks to Field Hockey team

Submitted by Wolverine Devotee on

He did this with the women's gymnastics team last spring and they went on and won the B1G Championship.

They play in the NCAA Tournament on Saturday against #7 Wake Forest. Michigan hosts the NCAA Semifinals and National Championship at Ocker Field.

They're going to have to play harder in the NCAA tourney than they did against MAryland in the B1G Championship if they want out of the first round. Hopefully the Harbaugh push can help them out.

You need to completely disregard that game.

The B1G horseshit refs (what a shock) suspended the #2 keeper in the country in Sam Swenson for a tap on the leg of a too-close PSU defender in the semifinal. It was nothing worth taking away a title shot from Michigan for.

But what else do you expect?

It's a scholarship equivalency sport. They split 12 full scholarships through a 23 woman team. Still, you could get a good chunck of change off the education with a 50% scholarship, especially if it's out of state tuition.

Is it bad that I had a moment of thinking, "Harbaugh talking to a room full of female athletes.  I hope he didn't say anything too offensive"?

How do you find all of this stuff!? I swear, if Harbaugh talked to a Girls U12 Travel Soccer team, you would some how know about it and post the story. That said, Harbaugh is such a boss, I hope he never leaves.

(I agree with your presumed satire!) With a pro team what do you get?  A bunch of multi-milionaires that probably are not there thinking they can still be taught.  At Michigan Harbs can coach and influence anything and everything.  I could see him coaching up the debate team to victory. And with the way he gives the credit for good things to everyone else he does not step on any other coaches toes.

Maybe the most natural born coach I will see in my lifetime.

I hope he is a lifer. He is such an inspiration to those around him. His voice resonates throughout the college campus. He will not have the same personal impact at the professional level.

He really cares about the university and all the other sports that he takes time out to give the gals a boost of confidence, I love that guy.

The who is your favorite all time M QB? My answer has been Harbaugh for almost 30 years now, he was a great leader, scrambler, thrower and winner. Had he not gotten hurt when we were 3-1 in 1984 I feel like that season could have been special, the next 2 years were certainly special.

I think if there was a playoff that year that we would have won the Natty, I loved that '85 team.

...into whether he did these kinds of things regularly at Stanford (as he has since he arrived in Ann Arbor)?

If he did, I sure don't remember hearing about them.

This kind of stuff is the main reason why I feel when he says, "I love the University of Michigan," this is a terminal position for him.

You don't take time out of your busy season to do these things if you don't have a passion for making the university better however you are able.
