PGA Tour possible future destinations: Oakland Hills; Oakland Univ.

Oakland Hills south course is a great place to play, one of my all-time favorites. I do wonder whether members would want to hold a "regular" tour stop. Holding an occasional USGA or PGA event is quite a bit different (and more prestigious). I would personally like a tour stop there, since I live less than a mile from the course.

Oakland Hills needs to stay as a US Open or PGA Championship venue. There are plenty of other courses around the Metro Detroit area that, with a little updating, would be a great venue to host a PGA event.

I'm a member at Oakland Hills. That scenario will never happen. Membership is working on setting up a US Open for the future. Even that we are unlikely to get. Unless the financial situation at the club becomes DIRE. Read: host a tour event or lose the club. The PGA Tour will never have an event at Oakland.

Honestly, Its a lot of politics. Getting your course on the Open rota is really difficult. That, plus I think the rota is filled until 2016, 2017, or 2018... Something like that. It will be a while until it comes back to Oakland. However, its not for lack of teeth, so to say. Several of the longest teeboxes did not see any play during the 2008 PGA.

The TPC of Michigan should have events again, that course was a great place to watch golf and is in a well populated area.
