Yes. Same reaction from all of us watching in my garage. Then: "oh shit. Look at that spot."

because children present. ^_^

I was in full celebration mode and yelled something similar. No kids, so I added some colorful metaphors.

I immediately thought he was short. That was my first impression and it was affirmed by the replay - dont get why the refs didnt see it...
November 27th, 2016 at 10:42 PM ^
There was no first down, that's why the officials rushed out to make up that half yard for them.
My children were also present, we all screamed our lungs out together because it was so obvious that our Defense had executed and delivered....but the OSU judges rushed in to abuse thier positions as impartial refs and complete the fix of the game.
OSU fans are uneasy about this win. For good reason. Meyer is noticeably unnerved by Harbaugh, that's why the dumb fake attempt that led to our TD. That's why he is high fiving refs and the refs are patting his players on the ass, without some serious help Meyer is outcoached by Harbaugh and he knows it, his fan base knows it.
Welcome to A2 next year, Buckeyes.

same here, I knew he was short as soon as he was stopped dead in his tracks.......
November 28th, 2016 at 10:27 AM ^
I jumped up and yelled "He was short!!" and then "There is no way in a million years that this crew will overturn that spot." It was a sickening feeling, knowing even before the pretend review that this had been decided.

I'm not getting my hopes up, but I'm begging, BEGGING, for a rematch with those guys if we are fortunate enough to somehow sneak into the playoff.
Get those guys on a neutral field with OOC refs with an angrier, even more pissed off team, and I think we take them down. Barrett would be sacked at least 10 times that night.

Bobby Sagers should never officiate a Michigan game again.
Just putting this here because I don't feel like it's worth a new thread.

He should never officiate another game, period. This shit is just disgraceful, how can it be left to stand without change?
November 27th, 2016 at 10:04 PM ^
Wow, all these years I thought officials blew calls strictly because of incompetence. Now I'm starting to believe some of them are intentional, which shouldn't surprise me. Corruption seems to exist everywhere to some degree.
November 28th, 2016 at 8:37 AM ^
Maybe you all should organize another cry in. Maybe a safe space with play-doh and coloring books is in order.
November 27th, 2016 at 10:17 PM ^
spotted the ball? Sager is the one who threw the flag on Harbaugh right?
November 27th, 2016 at 10:17 PM ^
He's either a fucking idiot or throwing games. Either way, he should NEVER officiate a game again.
November 27th, 2016 at 10:59 PM ^
He might be an idiot, but more likely he's going with his homegrown bias and the hometown crowd. Analyzing Sagers is kind of a waste of time.
My question is why was he allowed to officate this game... is Delaney that ready to throw credibility and professionalism out the window? Because of the money?
November 27th, 2016 at 10:21 PM ^
Look at the joy on the face of back judge (and admitted Ohio State fan) Kevin Schwarzel after JT Barrett's OT TD.
Gross.

you should put that on Jake's Twitter feed too, if it isn't already

November 27th, 2016 at 11:39 PM ^
he's not throwing confetti.
November 28th, 2016 at 9:51 AM ^
Or jerking off to the sight of Curtis Samuel celebrating with the crowd.
November 27th, 2016 at 9:40 PM ^
is not official and is this shot after he fell back from his forward progress? Why wasn't a measurement with chains done or requested?
November 27th, 2016 at 9:44 PM ^
GODDAMMIT STOP WITH THE FUCKING CHAINS!!
The line to gain was EXACTLY the 15. No chains required.

November 27th, 2016 at 9:45 PM ^
Why do people get confused by this. It was the first series of downs in their 2nd OT, the ball started exactly at the 25 so the 15 was the exact yard to get.

1 inch matter here.
November 27th, 2016 at 10:28 PM ^
But the yardline stripe is four inches long, which means you really have to get to the middle of the 15 white line. This is why chains are used....the game of inches.

Seems pretty convincing that he was short
November 27th, 2016 at 10:01 PM ^
Wormley is angled forward with his left arm planted on the 15 thus placing him inside of the line to gain.
JT runs into 88's asshole and Wormley's right forearm, which again, is forward resutling in Wormley stoning him and stopping Barrertt short.
November 27th, 2016 at 10:21 PM ^
Everyone needs to see this, that is absolutely indisputable to me now. Unfucking real.
November 27th, 2016 at 10:22 PM ^
This proves he was short.
November 27th, 2016 at 11:11 PM ^
Here was my angle of #SpotGate. From this view, Wormley's left hand is on the 15 yard line. JT never looks to get the ball past his arm. pic.twitter.com/zLCeRPJRdw

The shot posted above is from at least a tenth of a second after Barret started falling backward. Here is a GIF from the point of actual most forward progress to the point shown in the shot above. You can see Barret and ball have moved backward from the farthest point forward.
November 27th, 2016 at 9:54 PM ^
There's no point reasoning with people. It's simply impossible to overturn the call based on any available camera angles. Definitely not 100% indisputable evidence he didn't get there.

November 27th, 2016 at 9:58 PM ^
Goes without saying, and I know you know this already, but the reasonable people are not upset that it wasn't overturned. It's that there is a pretty clear line of sight from the line official to say that he's not there.
November 27th, 2016 at 10:43 PM ^
a better replay image.
But the spot was just a guess and was wrong.
Preacher Mike's GIF does not at all contradict the photo in the OP.
The GIF is from a bad angle.
Ball is no more forward in the GIF than in the OP photo. In the GIF Barrett is not being pushed backward from a forward most point. He is sliding vertically down 88's butt and leg. 88 is lurching forward. The ball sliding down 88's butt is 88 lurching foward, not Barrett falling backward.
At any rate, the line judge cannot see exactly where the ball is at the crucial moment. The call was a guess.
After the play they placed the center of the ball on the center of the 15 yard line. Whatever the GIF shows, no way that the ball advanced that far. Line judge did not see where the ball was, made a guess, and guessed wrong.
No way to overturn it. But it was a bad spot.
November 27th, 2016 at 10:06 PM ^
Look at his blocker...guy is never at the 15. The blocker's ass stops Barret cold, and the football is a good foot behind that. It's not even close.
November 27th, 2016 at 10:31 PM ^
The ball is on his back, not his ass cheek

Somehow the guy in the booth knew that in a few seconds he took to decide this.
November 27th, 2016 at 9:55 PM ^
I'm not so sure on that
November 27th, 2016 at 10:15 PM ^
What this gif reveals to me is that he ball is much more forward than I first thought. The ball is tucked right under his face mask and actually slips past Wormleys forearm.
