Penn State Depth Chart
I only know how to link, so here it is:
http://grfx.cstv.com/photos/schools/mich/sports/m-footbl/auto_pdf/2015-…
But for those of us hoping to see Mone, he is not listed. NT is 1) Hurst and 2) Strobel or Pallante.
Glad to see Dymonte listed at SS after Peppers (which means starting in nickle), although it is interesting that it is Dymonte Thomas or Wayne Lyons. May Lyons actually get meaningful playing time?
I do know that Harbaugh hardly limits himself to what the depth chart says, but this is at least what it says.

I re-did it and it works now.

I don't think we're going to see Mone on the depth chart whether he plays or not. JH is not one to tip his hand to the opposition.
November 17th, 2015 at 4:13 PM ^
he cant play if he is not listed on the depth chart. Can't get that tricky.
November 17th, 2015 at 4:17 PM ^
I have no expertise in the field, but my gut tells me that you are dead wrong.
November 17th, 2015 at 4:38 PM ^
I agree with 1484. I don't think there is any rule prohibiting someone from playing who doesn't make the depth chart. The news about Isaac being listed back on it though is encouraing. Hopefully he and the staff can get on the same page, if that's been what's been the off-field issue.

The only one that follows them are the fans. Some coaches never change them.
November 17th, 2015 at 5:04 PM ^
Other than injuries to Glasgow and Mario, I believe the only change all year is that Wormley is now ahrad of Godin, instead of an OR separating them,
SS has been Peppers, then Thomas OR Lyons every week, for example.

It has been said much on the blog but it is quite true - the depth chart may or may not be the depth chart. The one released for public consumption may or may not be the one that actually reflects the proposed in-game strategy. After all, there is honesty and then there is excessive honesty.

They list BUCK, but they listed OLB instead of just putting Ross as the backup LB to Morgan and Bolden...and adding NB as a starting position for Peppers. Which in turn free up a true starting SS position for Hill or Thomas.

I say they just go "shirts and skins"...
November 17th, 2015 at 3:51 PM ^
I know he wasn't a high end recruit but he's a red shirt freshman, not a true freshman, and he will be getting more first team reps now. he's virtually the same size as mo hurst. Maybe it won't be so horrible.
November 17th, 2015 at 4:56 PM ^
He is ??? For whatever reason, I thought he was vastly undersized, and scoffed at him actually playing DT.

Pallante is only 6 lbs. lighter than Maurice Hurst, Jr. Pallante is 276, and Hurst is 282. I agree that his size isn't ideal, but it's workable as a backup. I don't think many backup nose tackles keep defensive coordinators up at night.

"May Lyons actually get meaningful playing time."
Hopefully he does for his sake, because right now his legacy at Michigan is being the guy who failed to push Jalen Watts-Jackson out of bounds on the final play of the "Fluke" game.

And brutally unfair. I didn't know that was him until this moment, and I'm here every day. But don't even try putting that outcome on him.

As an eternal optimist and one whose football knowledge is close to de minimis, the thoughts expressed by the players about IU's rushing success made sense to me. As I understood it, M's difficulty in adjusting to IU's unconventional blocking schemes created rather wide (!) running lanes for Jordan Howard en rouite to his net 238-yard evening. Yes, Ryan's presence would have made a difference, but I think Howard would still have had a big night.
I look for the D-line to have a much better game against Penn State this Saturday. My assumption is that Penn State runs a more traditional offensive blocking scheme, with which the M D-line should be more familiar. True, Tom Strobel is no Ryan Glasgow, but he is an experienced senior, has a full game at NT under his belt, and has the benefit of another week of good coaching. How much of a contribution Brady Pallante will make I don't know, but in certain situations he might be able to give Mo Hurst and Strobel a breather.
But no, even at my most optimistic do I expect to see Bryan Mone on the field this season. For the final two regular-season games, we'll have to go to war with the weapons we have. Go Blue.
