Pelini: "F*** you (Nebraska) fans, f*** all of you"

Submitted by Wolverine Devotee on

Pretty interesting stuff to say the least. On top of former QB Tommie Frazier bashing Pelini, he went on a little tirade in a presser as reported by Deadspin. There is audio of him saying it in the link.

EDIT: Thanks for the heads up on the mistake. Apparently this was in 2011. Nebraska fans are pissed all over the twitter.

"It took everything in my power to not say, 'Fuck you, fans. Fuck all of you.' Fuck 'em."

"Our crowd. What a bunch of fucking fair-weather fucking—they can all kiss my ass out the fucking door. 'Cause the day is fucking coming now. We'll see what they can do when I'm fucking gone. I'm so fucking pissed off."

I think its time for Pelini to go. Completely disregarding these comments that he's made regarding the fanbase, Pelini has been around that program long enough for the fans to know that what they've seen out of him is what they're going to get: a defense that has gotten progressively worse ever since Suh left, and an offense that can put up some points, but always shoots itself in the foot and falls apart in critical games. When was the last time Nebraska won a game that really, truly mattered on the national stage? This team crumbles under pressure.

My best friend and his family are diehard Nebraska fans, and they've wanted Pelini gone for a while. I have no doubt that Pelini wants to win and get Nebraska back to where it wants to be, but he's been completely unable to get his program over the hump, get them back to a bowl game that matters, much less win that game, win a conference championship, or even recruit well. For a traditional powerhouse, high-level program like Nebraska, Pelini has not been able to recruit at all, which is astounding given the resources he should have access to. All things being equal, there's no reason that Nebraska shouldn't be competing with Michigan and OSU for top recruiting classes in the conference. There's no reason for Nebraska to not be competing for top-10 classes.

Frazier is right. Nebraska and its fans deserve better. At this point, the Big Ten deserves better, too. I don't want a return to the Big Two, Little Eight. We need Nebraska to not just be good, but to be elite. And I just don't think Pelini is the guy that will get them there.

in Nebraska. Ponder that. To me this goes beyond the AD to the school prez or governor. I demand the guy's head. Football coach must represent, and this guy is a dirtbag.

he's a coach at a tradition-rich program and things happen...they've appeared in the B1G championship etc. So he got a litte hot under the collar...if not for instantaneous news anymore it would have been a private conversation. Shit gets so blown out of perspective anymore it's insane. I know it's a multimillion dollar job but the guy reacted to losing a football game, and lack of support from the crowd etc...cut the guy SOME slack.

Always assume a mic is on in this day and age.    But doing this to a guy in a moment where he did not believe he was being recorded is absolute bullshit.   This is lower than low.  Okay, Coach didn't say "off the record" but if we had access to everything any football coach ever said to a reporter, player, fellow coach, we'd be alarmed.

My mom watched the Newsroom and she said "there's a lot of swearing on that show".   I told her "you've never been in a real newsroom, that doesn't even touch the language they really use"

This is a really cheap thing to do to the guy.   I don't care what he said, it wasn't meant for public ears and that should be considered above all else.   But hey, he lost big to UCLA, let's destroy him now.

If you secretly recorded Bo, he probably would have never gotten past 1972.

What Coach Pelini said was wrong and he should have used restraint, but doing this is as low as it gets.     At least during Earl Weaver's famous (and hilarious) tirade, he knew he was being recorded.

And turns out Tom Osborne knew about the tape over a year ago and discussed with Bo.

"We are prepared to put the matter to rest," University of Nebraska-Lincoln Chancellor Harvey Perlman and NU athletic director Shawn Eichorst said in a joint statement released Wednesday. Coach Pelini has given us his assurance that he understands the seriousness and inappropriateness of his comments. We believe he is sincere in his apology and in his regret."

And now, back to football.

considering he won so many games. And seemed like many were glad to see him go. Always found that puzzling. Maybe I'm wrong about that though.

If Bo can produce the same body of work during his career that Lloyd did - including winning the right way like Lloyd - I'd be one very happy Cornhusker fan.

If he doesn't win, he'll get fired.    Fine.  That's the business.   Glad he's not going down over this, but he should know better.   I don't even like Bo Pelini (don't hate him either).  But to hell with the person that taped him behind his back.
